Why are my clownfish staying in one spot?Totally normal. Clowns live in anemones and don't move around too much. My pair is very established and even now the male will wait for food to come to him.
How do I know if my clownfish is stressed? If the fish started darting or hysterically swimming in the water, then this might indicate a recent problem in aquarium or beginning of a disease. On the other hand, if the fish seems lethargic and its swimming acivity decreased this might indicate a chronic problem in the tank.
What is normal clownfish behavior?Clownfish are social fish, communicating through popping and clicking noises. They live in groups of male fish with one dominant female, a dominant male, and a group of smaller males. The dominant male ensures its position by taking the best food opportunities.
Do clownfish like hiding? No they really do not hide in my experience. A mature female clown may not have tolerated any clown that was of female gender. Another possibility is that unless you QT the new clowns they introduced Velvet or Brooklynella which wiped out the existing clowns.
