About four years ago I walked into a small design shop in San Francisco and was positively bowled over by a pink rug with silver medallions. It seemed to magically encompass everything I loved about design, including a few paradoxes. It was simultaneously geometric and organic, playful and elegant, inspired by ancient design and yet thoroughly modern.
Thus began my love affair with the textiles and rugs of Madeline Wienrib. The granddaughter of ABC Carpet & Home founder Max Weinrib, Madeline is known for designs inspired by the patterns of India, Morocco and Asia. Until she does a line for Target (a girl can dream) she will remain very, very high on my covet list.
Eclectic Rugs
The chenille Mandala rug with metallic silver accents. The rug that started it all.
The cotton Mandala rug in Steel. It may not take your breath away, but it's definitely marriage material.
The cotton Brooke rug in Chestnut. A modern classic.
Hot Pink Brooke
The Hot Pink Brooke. Similar, but way hotter.
The Brooke rug in Tibetan wool. Kind of makes you want to get naked and roll around.
The Otto rug in Grape. In this room it's the focal point, but it also lends itself to layering and lots of rich pattern.
A runner in Tibetan wool. This design may no longer be available, but it's gorgeous to look at.
