5.0 out of 5 stars Hold's up, bought another

I am so pleased with this product. On the left was the same chair I bought in 2017. It has been a gem, so I finally bought another. These are fairly easy to assemble with minimal acrobatics. You do need a 7/16 wrench to hold the bolts for tightening, but the kit includes a hex to screw them in. These chairs could easily support 400# though I don't believe they are rated for that. They are a bit heavy to move either in kit form or assembled but that's because they are solid. As you an see by the photo the one on the left was bought 2 1/2 years prior to the one on the right. There is no difference in color despite being in the sun in Southern California for all that time. I know they are pricey, but they are definitely worth it. Comfort is very nice. I am 5' 9" and my head wrests easily on the back.

I'm 6'5" and 300 lbs, and needed a patio chair that was comfortable, durable, and looked great. This chair fits the bill, easily.

I got it in tangerine, and my wife and I both love the looks and the color of the chair.

Assembly was straightforward, and took about 20 minutes. I used my cordless drill with a hex bit to drive all the bolts and screws, which helped save my wrists and made the process go faster.

The materials are top-notch. All the assembly hardware is stainless steel, and the chair boards are made from Polywood, which is a synthetic material made from 90% post-consumer recycled HDPE (high density polyethylene). The color goes through the entire thickness of the material, so scuffs and scratches won't show as discolorations and will hardly be noticeable.

The chair is *very* comfortable. Note that this particular Adirondack chair has a slightly concave backrest, as opposed to some of the other Polywood Adirondacks that have flat backs. I find that the concave backrest is more comfortable, because it doesn't put all the pressure on the spine.

Also, the synthetic wood has some give to it, so the seat, arms, and back flex and give under weight, so it's not like sitting on something hard and unforgiving. Also, the chair is heavy enough such that gusting winds won't move it, but light enough that I can easily carry it to the optimal location for various deck and backyard activities.

On top of all of that, the Polywood line of outdoor furniture includes dozens and dozens of different types of chairs, tables, etc, all in the same color palettes, so this will be the first of many Polywood outdoor pieces for us. Their large selection and consistent styling and colors will allow us to grow our outdoor furniture over time, but still have it look like a coordinated set.

Put that all together, and this was an excellent purchase. I had been eyeing the Polywood line for several months, but had hesitated because of the price. However, the fit, finish, quality, and durability of these products make it well worth the costs, for us. Highly recommended.

UPDATE - we bought our second chair of the same kind (Adirondack, tangerine), and this one came with an additional piece of paper inserted, which I have scanned and uploaded as an image for this product. If you review the notes on that image you'll see that this insert provides four steps for protecting your chair against fading in the sun, including using covers, using cushions, storing the furniture when not in use, and using UV protectants. This runs counter to my impressions of the durability of this product represented in the product description, and I wanted to let other potential purchasers know about this disclaimer/additional information. I'm not dinging the chair with a lower rating yet, but my plan is to leave these chairs out year round, unprotected. If they start to fade or break down in the sun, I'll come back here and adjust accordingly. Note that I live in south central Texas, where the sun beats down like an anvil, so we'll be a good test case.

Also note that we found that if we sat perched on the front-left or front-right edge of the chair (like leaning over to play with/corral a toddler), the pressure would cause the leg to flex outward slightly, creating a 1/16 to 1/8 inch gap between the top side edge of the seat and the leg. This gap would then close on our skin when we sat fully back, causing a nasty pinch. I solved it by using four 1.25" stainless screws (two on each side) to attach the side legs to the edges of the top front seat board. I posted a picture of the repair as part of the photo gallery of this item, to show what it looks like.

UPDATE 2: Our oldest chair of this type is now six years old, and they are all still going strong. Once or twice a year I blast them with a pressure washer, and they keep looking great. We also now have an 8 month old Rottweiler puppy who decided one day to gnaw on the armests of all four chairs, leaving some ugly, snaggly areas. I got out the orbital sander and took the rough spots right out.

I added a new picture that shows the left armrest after sanding, if you look closely you can see the 'repaired' areas and even some remaining deep tooth marks, but there are no rough edges to snag on and it's not really noticeable if you don't know to look for it.

I love these chairs! I was looking for a high quality chair that would last for many years outdoors. After lots of shopping & reading many reviews, I am hoping this is it! These arrived quicker than the anticipated ship/arrival time. They were fairly easy to assemble with two adults. They are very study - you will not have to worry about the wind blowing these over. I've had many people compliment the look & comfort of these chairs. They wipe clean easily. I look forward to having these a very long time. I hope they last as long as the description states with a little annual cleaning/maintenance. I would recommend these! They have many color options available to match your taste!

These chairs are exactly what I have been looking for, and I finally decided to get them as my Christmas present to myself this year. I am definitely not disappointed. I wasn't sure if I wanted 2 ottomans, so I'm testing them out both ways right now. They were so easy to assemble, and I had no problem doing it by myself. The quality is great, and they are really heavy. I am so pleased with the color and comfort of these chairs, both with the ottoman, and without.
South Beach chair, corresponding ottoman - Aruba color.

Surprisingly comfortable chairs. I sat in a few Adirondack chairs when I looked around locally and liked this model the best. They're contoured well. They're solidly built and I've enjoyed them so far.

When I ordered these chairs I discovered I was missing pieces from one of boxes. I contacted Polywood directly and they responded quickly offering to either send out the missing parts or do a full return via Amazon. I opted for the parts and a few days later they were in my hands. I was pleased with how ready they were to solve the problem.

There's a hex tool provided for assembly, but you'll need a wrench to hold the nuts in a few places. Assembly isn't difficult.

I purchased two of the Adirondack chairs from Amazon and I'd recommend them to anyone. These chairs, once you've had the pleasure (not so much) of putting them together, are solid, comfortable, built to last and are warranted for 20 years. I'm planning to leave them on the deck and do nothing but hose them down when they get dirty. These are the identical chairs that are made by Polywood but sold under the Trex name as well at generally higher prices. I just had a deck built from the Trex composite material, and on that basis, I chose the Polywood furniture made from similar materials. I've since purchased additional ottomans for the Adirondacks, tables, rockers, and chaise lounges, all of which require assembly. But once you're done with that, sit back and enjoy them. These chairs have the heft and feel of solid wood, but none of the ongoing maintenance that wood requires. They are comfortable without cushions (but buy the cushions if you're buying the chaise lounges). These chairs arrived as a quick-ship item eligible for Amazon Prime fast delivery, but some of the other Polywood furniture must be made on order, and that takes a bit longer. If you buy these chairs, you'll need another person to help you put them together, but you won't be sorry you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Klasse Adirondack Stuhl!
