Continental DWS-06 but below average on snow.

I like my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3 better than my prior Conti DWS-06. Just a smoother, quieter, grippier tire in all conditions.

I'm reaching the end of my DWS-06 try, and will be going back to the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ next (had the A/S 3+ for the prior several tire changes). The DWS-06 worked well, and still work well near their end. But at least the set I got, they are noisy as hell. Noticed it from the moment I left the tire place. And they've been that way their entire life. I never got to try them in any significant snow pack to compare to the A/S 3+. The A/S 3+ worked great in all the snow/slush/wet I had to run through. They drove up the hills to and in my subdivision when even some trucks were leaving themselves at the bottom of the main hill.

I have no input to offer regarding snow but the AS3 Plus should be a longer wearing tire than the AS3 (not plus). The Plus version came out after but for some inexplicble reason Michelin still sells the non-plus as a 45k mile warranty tire even though it often wears at half those miles. The AS3 Plus should be more on par with the 45k mile warranty.

My 2010 Avant came with Goodyear A/S very good loved the way it drove. German made tires and didn';t want to risk buying Goodyears since I have never had good luck with them. Put a set of Conti DWS didn't like the way it drove. A little squishy in the turns and would seem to flat spot when It sat for a few days. Took 30min of highway driving to smooth out. Replaced with Pilot Super Sports. Great tire drove great. nice grip great in rain. I live in South Florida so cant comment on snow performance, but they are a summer performance tire so I wouldn't expect anyone to run them in winter. So happy with them I installed a second set.
Purchaed a 2011 Avant S-Line with sport suspension and 19"s Had Dunlops on it when I got it. very stiff and harsh riding tire. which would be OK if it had super grip but it didn't. found a bulge in a side wall shortly after purchasing the car so I replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Very happy with this tire and will be purchased again

    +1 for the A/S 3+
I think rim size makes a difference between which mentioned tires works better.

Conti are better in 19in+ rims

X 2...ran Conti's in both Extreme Contact DWS and DWS-06 variants for several years and didn't like the fact that they got noisy not even half way through their life.

On a whim I went with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ this time, 6k miles on them and I'm thoroughly impressed.

My Conti extreme contact dws tires are great on 19" wheels. Haven't used the in the winter though, but so far in the rain (which we've been getting non-stop for the last 3 months) they handle great.

Sorry to jack up this thread but does anyone have any experience with the Pirelli's P-Zero Nero GT tires? Tirerack.com recommends it for having great wet and dry handling and happens to be very affordable.

I just put these on and so far I like them. They are smoother than my michelin a/s 3+ ever were. Plus at $120 each they are cheap.

I just want a summer tires no snow here in FL mostly rain and wanted to have softer compound for grip as the heat here is terrible. Not bad though for that tire price.

Super soft compound will not last long. All tires you put there are performance tires, and longevity is not imperative. If performance is imperative, Michelin hands down. I had Michelin PSS on VW CC and that tire is serious physics defying device. Got 22k out of them.
If you still want performance but longevity too, get Michelin Pilot A/S 3+ or Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06.

I have DWS 06 and I'm happy with the performance but they flat spot after sitting for a while. My next tyre change I'll probably go back to running Nokian Z-Line A/S which I had on my old 5 series and loved.

Hmmm, I know DWS first generation had that issue (I have them on wifes car, nevertheless had that issue myself). I thought they addressed it.
I have Nokian winter tires now on wifes Tiguan and that was first and last time I bought that POS. What a waste of money.

I have no idea how old my DWS are they came on my car when I bought it last summer.

Are you still running the Nokias winters now? In July? Theyre not designed for summer and will be terrible, like any other winter tyre in these conditions.

Ive got Nokian wrg3 suv on my toy taco. Theyve held up well running up and down i70. I run nokian hakkas in the winter On the taco and the Avant. When I get new rims for the Avant next summer, I plan on running either zline or wrg4s.

I didn't get the DWS-06. I went with the CT Sport. I will do a review on them after 10k miles or so. But TireRack did recommend them over the DWS if you want maximum performance summer tires.

Ok, so we drive same roads :)
Dont get me wrong, R2 in ice and snow are remarkable tire. But, compared to same category of other tires, dry and wet performance is abysmal, especially wet. They are hard, making some weird sound over bridge connections and other imperfections. And amount of lead to balance (which I consider ultimate sign of quality)? One could balance 10 Michelins for one Nokian R2.
I found it after going on several vehicles (I always have two sets of tires for each vehicle) that in CO Michelin works best. And I ski 2-3 times a week at A-Basin, so see all kind of weather.

I went with the Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 when they were on promotion for $100 rebate. I have really enjoyed them in the dry and wet. Can't speak to the snow performance.

Same here. I'm about 20k miles in, including a snow storm or two - no problems then, and no problem in the rain. No road-noise, good grip, and very pleased with the treadwear.

Ill throw a wrench into this thread. I did a ton of research and ended up getting a set of Westlake SAO7 Sport Radial for my A4. They are a Chinese tire but the reviews are awesome and they have been on my car for 6 month and they have been great. The price difference between the Westlake and the models mentioned in this thread are significant. I bought mine on Amazon and had them installed by a local tire shop.

Its not where it is made, it is who made it.
