1.0 out of 5 stars Bottom of Pan Isn't Flat
Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2019

I own alot of All-Clad from several different product lines, including lots of D5 Brushed. This is the first time I've ever had a defective All-Clad product. The bottom of this little 8" skillet isn't flat. It's convex, higher in the center. It wobbles on the stove. See the photo. Thank goodness Amazon can replace it quickly. Have returned the pan and am waiting for the replacement to arrive.

I like how amazing it is. True non-stick. I've been cooking for 13 years and tried many "non-stick" labelled pan. Tefal, Turkish granite, German technology, all of them will start to stick after a month.

This one is still amazing! Very heavy and it really feels a quality in the hand

How to take care of it??
1) High heat with this pan is a big no no
2) Wash gently with soft spongue, sometimes I only wipe it with tissues

Dis:
The 2 knobs that hold the handle is sticky to food. I am afraid to clean them well and scratch my non-stick layer.

Will buy the bigger size from the same brand in the future

I've gone induction which does not work with my collection of aluminum N/S pots/pans. I decided to go the spendy route and buy all AC D5. I'm overly impressed with the quality of the D5 Line so it was a simple extension to get the N/S fry pans as well. I'm not sure about spending a ton of cash on any N/S as they are disposables. I have read mixed reviews about the AC N/S warranty so I'm overly protective of these pans.

1. NO PAN SPRAY!
2. To Clean, Soak, Hand Wash, NO abrasives, scrubbers or scrapers!
3. Never Heat Dry Pan, Always wet (use oil or water).
4. Never use Metal Utensils ( I use silicone )
5. No Broiler.
6. Oven temp less than 400 degrees even though they say 500 degrees.
7. Don't let anyone else use them! Especially the kids!

I want them to last a lifetime so these are the rules. Some also apply to the warranty.

As for the Non-Stick properties... Excellent!

A typical use for these pans is to make omelets. I preheat the pan over low heat (1 quarter power) with a pat of butter. Beat the eggs with chives and pepper, When the butter starts to sizzle and is completely melted, pour in the eggs and swirl with a silicone spatula. Grate a tablespoon of cheese over the eggs. When the bottom starts to firm up, lift an edge and tilt the pan to allow wet eggs to run down under the edge. Continue until the eggs are mostly done. Salt to taste. Fold and plate.

I cook other food items in these pans but the main reason for getting them was for eggs and other foods that bond to S/S. I Love eggs so the pan was a must have. You will have to use a tiny bit of oil or water if you want perfect release properties. going dry especially with eggs, your mileage will vary. I haven't had these pans for very long but for the last month, I've had premium results.

Update 2/29/2016
Still using these pans daily. they are the go to for non-stick however, the non-stick needs a little butter or oil to help. Otherwise, still good pans.

Update 2/22/2017
Still using these pans daily. The non-stick properties have pretty much expired. I can oil up a SS pan with about the same release properties as these non-stick pans. The NS pans are still functional so I continue to use them.

Update 2/4/2018
Still using these pans as a daily egg pan. These are used for eggs only at this point. I heat up a table spoon of butter and break open an egg. The egg will form a crust that holds fast to the pan. When I lower the temp to barely a simmer, I get wonderful eggs but stick like crazy glue. I have much better luck lining a SS pan with parchment paper. cut out a circle of parchment to line a frying pan, so the paper climbs the edge to hold in the egg. add a table spoon of water to the pan, drop in the paper and on top of that a dollop of butter. When the butter is melted, drop in the egg. swirl a bit and cover for 3 - 5 min. salt an pepper to taste, add cheese if needed and serve or continue cooking until you like them. I like my eggs jiggly but firm. eggs will slide off the paper like you see on the commercials.

The complaints from those stating that the Teflon flakes off or that this pan does not hold up are not treating it correctly. I do not even care if the description says it is dishwasher safe, Teflon on any pan is going to fleck off cleaning it in the dishwasher. This stuff will be damaged at the high heat that a dishwasher drying cycle requires. I use this literally every morning and it is an amazing egg pan. Do not scrub it with anything abrasive and do not use metal utensils. If you use silicone utensils you will be able to quickly wipe this out and be ready for the next use, I have been doing this for a very long time.

These pans are amazing to cook with. I honestly think a lot of people don’t know how to care for nice things or let alone cook. I have so many all clad pans, love everyone of them

Very even heat distribution. I do not recommend washing this in the dishwasher despite it being dishwasher safe just to make sure the non-stick surface doesn't wear prematurely. If you are looking for the best of the best you have found it. All Clad makes a premium American made product that functions quite well. I would buy it again, I would buy it for a gift. Note: this is brushed stainless and not shiny like other All Clad products. Nonetheless - I am very happy with my purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT SIT FLAT!!!!

Reviewed in Canada on January 7, 2019

The 12” pan does not sit flat. It wobbled on my induction top and other flat surfaces. I wondered why it was $100 less than from William Sonoma. It must be defective All-Clad cookware. If not, shame on All-Clad for letting this pass quality control. A $200+ pan should sit dead flat, as I can buy a $35 pan that can handle that simple task. The inner and outer boxes were perfect, so it shipped out that way. Also, the handle is monumentally uncomfortable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nonstick Coating Peeling after Less than 1 Year

Reviewed in Canada on April 2, 2019

Less than 1 year after purchasing this our non-stick coating is peeling at the edge of the pan. Very disappointing for an All-Clad product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don’t Get The Non-Stick

Reviewed in Canada on July 3, 2021

The nonstick surface requires too much maintenance, is not durable, and complaints will be totally ignored by this seller.

4.0 out of 5 stars A handy smaller pan to have in the kitchen

Reviewed in Canada on January 24, 2022

Excellent size, great non-slip surface, easy to clean and oven safe.

1.0 out of 5 stars Peeling after 2 months use !

Reviewed in Canada on June 15, 2020

This pan started peeling less then 3 months use. For the price I paid this shouldn’t happen and unfortunately it is past the date of return. Buyer beware!

Is all

Is the All-Clad D5 Line Being Discontinued? This cookware is already discontinued per All-Clad's website and certain company announcements. The company still makes pans and other kitchen cookware. But the D5 line has been totally discontinued.

Is all

If you have an induction cooktop or want the very best heat conduction, then get the All-Clad D5 cookware set. Its cooking performance is excellent, and it will last a lifetime. If you struggle to lift heavy cookware or have an electric stovetop, you could get away with using tri-ply.

What's the difference between D3 and D5 All

The key difference between All-Clad D3 and D5 is that D3 has 3 bonded layers (steel, aluminum, steel), and D5 has 5 (steel, aluminum, steel, aluminum, steel). D3 heats faster and is more responsive, while D5 heats more evenly and is more forgiving. Due to its added layers, D5 is more expensive.

Does all

Sturdy, durable stainless steel pans that retain and distribute heat perfectly. Optimised to withstand the high heat of induction hobs, they are warp-resistant and oven-compatible.
