OfferingsJodar Farms CSA'sJodar Farms offers a Winter and Summer CSA membership for our Chicken, Eggs and Pork Sausage. Our CSA members prepay at the beginning of the season, then create custom orders using our Online Farm Store. CSA orders can be picked up at any of our many weekly Front Range pickup locations. Winter CSA season is January-May and our Summer CSA season is June-October. Hog OrdersWe encourage folks to check out our half and whole hog orders when you are ready to stock that freezer up. This has been one of the most popular ways to purchase pork as it is the most economical and satisfying way to get our pork products. Customers choose the way their animal is cut up so you aren't left with random cuts you are unfamiliar with. Whats included with your purchase: Its important to note that each animal is different and will not yield exactly whats listed below, yet this can be used as a general guideline on what to expect for a half hog.
How much is a whole hog worth?The cost of a whole hog is a whole hog at $6.50/lb and a half hog for $7.00 per pound. This is based on the actual weight for the amount of meat that you receive back.
How much does a 250 lb hog cost?For the 250 pound hogs yielding more than 75 percent the total wholesale weight is 31,861pounds and is valued at $26,582 or $132.91 per head.
How much does it cost to buy a full grown pig?Chances are you'll have a few choices based on how much time you want to spend raising the pigs and how much you want to spend on your pig. The cost to buy a pig can be from $50-2,000+ with feeder pigs being on the lower end ($50-200 each) and special or unusual genetics for breeding stock on the high end.
Is buying a whole pig worth it?A whole pig typically yields 120 pounds of meat or more. Cost depends on the cuts chosen and its weight, but one can expect to save 15 percent to 40 percent. Farmers are willing to sell the whole pig for less than its parts to save on marketing dollars.
