The iconic American brand, Jeep made its foray in Indian market in August, 2016 with the launch of one of its most loved SUVs, ‘Grand Cherokee’. The model is available in three variants-Grand Cherokee Limited, Grand Cherokee Summit and the more powerful performance trim, Grand Cherokee SRT.  The Limited and Summit variants derive power from the 3.0 litre, V6 EcoDiesel engine as opposed to the SRT trim that comes equipped with the high capacity 6.4 litre, V8 engine putting out massive power and torque. Measuring 4,828mm long, 1,943mm wide and 1,802mm high, Grand Cherokee is a muscular SUV with an aggressive front profile featuring multiple slat chrome grille, split headlamps, small fog lamps with chrome surrounds, air dams with mesh grille backdrop and thick chrome surround. The body cladding is in line with the rugged SUV-ish semblance. Square wheel arches with fat tyres underneath and supportive character lines on side add to the robust appearance. Jeep has given equal prominence to the rear end with a large spoiler sitting on the top, LED wrap around tail lamps, dual tailpipes and large bumper with a thick chrome garnish adorning the rear profile.

With a capacity to seat five adults, Grand Cherokee, interior gets two row seating layout offering comfortable space to occupants. The chrome work done on the dual tone dashboard is a bit over the top. Chunky dials and three-spoke steering wheel look a tad dated. Seats are covered with premium leather upholstery and there are multiple storage points inside like bottle holders, door bins, glove-box etc. Centre console gets a large touch-screen and a number of buttons for controlling multiple gizmos offered inside. Use of other elements like open pore wood, premium leather and detailed stitching are some of the key elements that make the cabin more upmarket. 

Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine Specifications & Transmission

Armed by the 3.0 litre, V6 diesel engine, the Limited and Summit variants offer maximum power of 240bhp and 570Nm. The high-performance, SRT variant houses the 6.4 litre, V8 engine putting out abundant power of 468bhp and top torque of 630Nm. Both the engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that comes with paddle shifters and power is channelized to all four wheels via an all-wheel drive system.

The 3.0 litre engine is claimed to return ARAI certified fuel economy of 12.8km/l under standard conditions.
