The overcast sky stays in place tonight as our next weather system moves in. It arrives in the early morning (around 2-4 AM) and brings rain showers, mixed with snow in the northern portions of the area. With temperatures being near freezing, there may be some slick spots on the roads – especially on bridges and overpasses. Plan to give yourself a few extra minutes to get to work or school to be on the safe side.
Rain/snow will last until around lunchtime before the precipitation becomes more scattered during the afternoon. High temperatures Wednesday will top out in the mid-40s and winds become breezy, at times, with easterly gusts up to 20 mph. By the evening, widespread rain will return and provide a good soaking to the area. The rain should wrap up by Thursday morning around sunrise or just after. When all is said and done, rainfall amounts could possibly be over one inch.
Most of the day Thursday is then dry. Temperatures will be in the 40s throughout the day.
Friday and Saturday will both have the chance to see some scattered snow showers as the weather system responsible for the unsettled weather this week slows downs and continues to hover nearby. Highs will drop into the 30s on Friday and into the upper 20s on Saturday.
