Our faculty are ABIM-certified, clinically active physicians who are dedicated to the education of our residents. They will work with you closely, from direct observation and feedback at the bedside, to advising you on your educational goals, patient care and scholarship. Many conduct clinical translational research and act as mentors to residents interested in doing the same.

We have made a commitment to have core faculty certified as medical educators through the Faculty Educator Program. We also review and revise our curriculum on an ongoing basis, taking into account residents’ feedback, exam pass rates and rotation evaluation reports.

Our large program size and diversity of training sites give you wide-ranging experience delivering care. You will work as a part of collaborative health care teams and develop adaptable skills in large hospitals and small clinics throughout the Buffalo area.

We meet or exceed ACGME standards throughout our program, giving you a solid grounding in the core competencies. In addition, our electives make our residents outstanding candidates for fellowships and clinical practice.

More than 60 percent of our residents go on to fellowships. Over the past five years, approximately 45 percent of our residents have matched to fellowships right here at UB. Over 50 percent have entered practice or an academic career in our area after completing their residency. In all, nearly half our residents choose to stay in the Buffalo area — a fact that testifies to our program’s quality of training and the level of satisfaction the region and its professional community offer.

Our residents come from allopathic, osteopathic and international medical schools and go on to challenging, rewarding careers.
