Trenton kennel club dog show 2023

Another Montgomery County Kennel Club week is in the books. Once again, Montgomery County KC and Hatboro Dog Club held their shows at the lovely Macungie Park. This year’s shows were blessed with sunny, brisk weather. It was the perfect setting for the Greatest Terrier Show on earth! To me, Montgomery County week is comparable to any National Specialty, Westminster, or the AKC National Championship when it comes to prestige. This is a great opportunity to see fanciers from all over the world, and a great mentoring opportunity as well. If one is interested in learning about terriers, there is no better place to be!

Peggy Browne did an excellent job of describing Montgomery County. She said, “MCKC is the best terrier weekend of the year. Friends revisited, missing other friends unable to come. Beautiful dogs.  People in awe of others talent. Dreams coming true. Breeders sharing knowledge of their breed standard. Hopefuls of the future making their debut. Nothing better! Take advantage of every minute! Watch and listen!”  Well said Peggy, well said!!!

Great news from the folks at Bucks County and Trenton Kennel Clubs! They will be joining forces for 2023 and holding their shows May 6-8 at Mercer County Park in New Jersey. May 5th will be devoted to specialties. It will be another circuit full of tradition. If you have never attended Buck and Trenton, you should put it on your schedule.

Sadly, this week was a week full of loss for the fancy marked by the passing of Pat Laurans and Jane Flowers. Jane and her husband Stan were a successful handling team. They bred Boxers, French Bulldogs and Bulldogs under the Evergreen Kennel Name. Anyone who showed dogs in the Midwest knew Stan and Jane had arrived when they pulled up in their Prevost bus. Jane was always regarded as a class act and spent many years running the Dog Handlers Guild. Heartfelt condolences to Stan and Jane’s family at this most difficult time.

Pat Laurans was an AKC judge, delegate, and one of the founders of Take the Lead. Known as a force within the AKC Delegate body, Pat advocated for her passions relentlessly. She was a good friend and mentor to many and will be sorely missed by the fancy. Our most sincere condolences to her wife, Jacqueline Adams, along with her sisters, family and adoring friends.

Best wishes to Monica Bowers who has begun radiation treatment for breast cancer. Monica is going into treatment with a positive attitude and encourages all women to be sure to get their checkups!  We are thinking about you, Monica!  You’ve got this!

Our thoughts are with St. Bernard fancier Will Bratcher as he recovers from having a stent inserted.  Will went in for a cardiac catheter and they immediately took him to surgery.  His doctors say he dodged a bullet!  Feel better soon, Will.  We look forward to seeing you and Ian back in the ring soon.

If you don’t want to be green with envy and you are friends with Tara Martin-Rowell on social media, you may want to snooze her for the next couple of weeks. She and her husband, J.D., are vacationing in Amsterdam!!! Have a great time, guys, and keep those wonderful photos coming.

Congratulations to Aaron Wilkerson and Ashley Cuzzolino on your recent engagement. May you two have a wonderful, long life of love and happiness together.

Brittani and David Cornelius welcomed their daughter, Oakley Rose, this past week. She weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces at birth and she and Mom are doing well. Congratulations and best wishes for a bright future for Oakley!

Happy Anniversary to Kellye and Nick Riani. It is hard to believe that you lovebirds have already been married for 5 years! Wishing you continued happiness!

Fanciers celebrating birthdays this week are:  Bonnie Miller, Gabby Gilbeau, Ilaria Biondi, Teena Uyeno, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, Justin Smithey, Jen Reed, Maureen McCreery, Ralph Whittman, Becky Laing, Tristen Lawrence, Tammy Gincel, Kasey O’Brien, Kathy Musto, Frankie Dubman and Liz Muthard. May each of you have enjoy a great day full of lots of cake!

In closing, remember this my friends:  Don’t count the days, make the days csount!!!

Be safe in your travels and please lend a hand when possible. Be kind to your fellow exhibitors and show volunteers! If your travels bring you to the Black Mountain Shows in Henderson, Nevada this coming weekend, I’ll see you there!! Until next time…
