Education has played an important role at St. Joseph's, almost since its inception. The program was formalized in 1872, when students at Syracuse University's College of Medicine were granted clinical instruction privileges at the hospital. As a teaching facility, St. Joseph's must keep on top of the latest knowledge in medicine as well as the newest in technology in order to attract "the brightest and the best."
St. Joseph's currently offers four programs including Family Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Transitional Residency.

Our Program
St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Stockton, welcomed our inaugural class of Internal Medicine Residents in July 2020. Our Internal Medicine Residency Program features high-volume, multi-diverse and complex patients across our 355-bed facility that has been serving our community since 1899. St. Joseph’s Medical Centers Heart & Vascular Institute is nationally recognized and we have the only accredited cancer facility in the county as well as having a Certified Primary Stroke Center. Our Internal Medical Residency Program’s affiliation with the Touro University Medical Group’s Stockton Clinic has grown our range of care into the patient population that needs us most.
Our program’s clinical scope includes inpatient and outpatient medicine as well as subspecialty rotations including an intensive ICU curriculum with fellowship trained faculty. We offer training with state-of-the-art simulation lab methods, weekly didactics, academic journals, and a generous educational stipend for continued clinical knowledge elevation. Our Internal Medicine Residents’ education is constantly stimulated and enriched outside of the patient care settings. The unique combination of busy urban hospital surrounded by a moderately rural and underserved community yields excellent patient care experiences preparing our residents to provide unparalleled care to their patients.
