Segment Addition Postulate Defined The segment addition postulate states that if we are given two points on a line segment, A and C, a third point B lies on the line segment AC if and only if the distances between the points meet the requirements of the equation AB + BC = AC.

As per the segment addition postulate, if we have an iron rod of length 30 inches, and it is cut into two parts. If the length of one part is 14 inches, it means the length of the other part of the rod is 30 - 14 = 16 inches. This is one of the examples of segment addition postulate.

The Angle Addition Postulate formula states that if D is in the interior of ∠ ABC then ∠ ABD +∠ DBC = ∠ ABC. The formula applies to the angle measures of adjacent angles. The sum of the two adjacent angles will equal the measure of the larger angle that they form together.
