Samsung dishwasher upper spray arm fell off

Dishwasher spray arms are one of the key functional parts of your dishwasher, as they are what directs the water to your plates and cutlery. If they are not working correctly, it will result in a weaker cleaning performance from your dishwasher - with your items still remaining dirty.

Spray arms can get caught on long cutlery, or clogged up with food particles and limescale.

Firstly, just to check you are on the right path, here are the warning signs that your spray arm needs to be replaced:

  • Dishes come out unclean
  • There are splits of cracks along the seams or joints of the spray arm
  • Excessive noise

If you need to replace any of the spray arms but are unsure where to start, there’s no need to panic. We’ll talk you through how to successfully replace the spray arms without damaging your dishwasher.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

What You Will Need:

  • Spray Arms
  • Screwdriver

Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please make sure that you have switched your appliance off at the mains before starting your repair.

Step 2 - Replace The Lower Spray Arm

We need to be able to get to the spray arms of course! To gain access, carefully slide out the baskets. If you’re replacing the lower sprayer, it simply pops out and you can replace it with your new one by clicking it into place - it really is that easy!

Step 3 - Replace The Upper Spray Arm

The upper spray arm and pipe is fixed to the bottom of the upper basket, which can be removed by applying some gentle pressure. The new one should simply slot straight in.

Step 4 - Replace The Spray Arm Supply Channel

Take a little look inside the cavity of your dishwasher now…you should see a long plastic tube, which is known as the supply channel. This delivers water from the bottom of the appliance, directing it from the wash motor to the upper spray arm.

For the model in this video, the design has changed over the years. It might not be so obvious, but there is a slight size difference so you may have to replace this too.

To change the upper spray arm channel connector, simply prise out the metal securing clips with a flat-head screwdriver.

Step 5 - Remove The Spray Arm Channel Connector

Once the supply channel is away from the dishwasher cavity, use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the old spray arm channel connector.

Pay attention to get the connector aligned properly before clicking the channel into position.

Step 6 - Fit The Baskets

Nearly there now…all you need to do is put the baskets back in your dishwasher, as they were located before, and there you have it - your dishwasher now has new spray arms thanks to your hard work!

Congratulations - you have now successfully been able to replace your dishwasher spray arms! You can now get back to being able to have the dishwasher do all the hard work, rather than you have to clean them by hand!

You now have the knowledge that you have fixed the spray arms all by yourself (with a little help from eSpares of course!).

Our DW is about a year old. The top sprayer keep coming off. It is easy to reattach but comes off almost every other wash. Has anyone had this problem? Does replacing the sprayer solve the issue or do you have to replace the entire water supply where it attaches. It's all plastic and I think the the tab the keeps it on is wearing down.
TIA

Does it lock into place when you put it back on? If it does it's probably worn:

Can you run dishwasher without upper spray arm?

The sprayer arms in your dishwasher are how it works its magic. Without the sprayer arms, jetting water wouldn't hit your dishes and they would not effectively be cleaned. So if you're noticing that your dishes have stopped coming out clean, a good place to start looking is the sprayer arms.
