Samsung app to transfer to new phone

With the Samsung Smart Switch app, you can easily copy your contacts, files, and settings from your old smartphone or tablet to your new Samsung device. The brand of your old device doesn't matter. We'll explain how to do so here.

Switch with Samsung Smart Switch

With Samsung Smart Switch, you can can switch wirelessly or via a cable. In both cases, it doesn't matter if you place the SIM card in your new device beforehand or afterwards.

  • Download and open the Samsung Smart Switch App on both smartphones.
  • Choose if you want so switch wirelessly or via cable.
  • Select all the data you want to transfer to your new device.

Wireless

  • Step 1: connect both devices to WiFi.

  • Step 3: select "Start" on your old device and "Receive data" on your new device.

  • Step 4: select "Wireless" on both devices.

  • Step 5: select the data you want to transfer and tap "Send".

  2. Download and open the Samsung Smart Switch on both your old and new device.
  3. Tap Start on your old device and Receive data on your new device.
  4. Choose Wireless on both devices. The devices will now connect.
  5. On your old device, select the data that you want to transfer and tap Transfer. The data is now copied to your new device, so it also remains on your old device.

Via a cable

  • Step 2: select "Start" on your old device and "Receive data" on your new device.

  • Step 3: select "USB Cable" on both devices.

  • Step 4: connect the devices with a cable.

  • Step 5: choose "Send data" on your old device.

  • Step 6: select the data you want to transfer and tap "Transfer".

Note: Currently, Samsung doesn't always include a USB cable anymore. In that case, Samsung Smart Switch only works wirelessly.

  1. Download and open the Samsung Smart Switch app on both your old and new device.
  2. Tap Start on your old device and Receive on your new device.
  3. Select USB Cable on both devices.
  4. Connect the devices together with a cable and the USB connector included with your new Samsung device. The screen shows how you do this.
  5. On your old device, choose Send.
  6. On your new smartphone, select which files you want to take with you from your old phone and tap Transfer. Smart Switch will now transfer your information to your new device.
