Packaging- airless pump

Review- writing this rave review after finishing one pump, and just starting with my second. After using envita C and and VCX i was in search of a vitamin c serum that didn’t feel too oily or too silicone-y and could be worn under sunscreen. Although this was really expensive, i was surprised at how long one bottle lasted me, it lasted a little over 5 months with daily usage of 3 pumps in the morning. The packaging has a disc which pushes up the product, that ensures it stays airless, and does not oxidise. The perk of the packaging is that no product goes wasted and you don’t have to cut it open to extract remaining product. It has a stellar ingredients list, and a very oil like consistency, which dries up within seconds of rubbing it on my slightly damp face. It doesn’t affect sunscreen application, in fact anti oxidants are known to protect further from free radicals caused by UV damage when used in conjunction with sunscreen, the vitamin C used in it is Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate which is an oil soluble form of vitamin C, and can penetrate skin better since it is fatty in nature. The actual percentage of vitamin C isn’t provided, but it was mild and didn’t cause any itching or irritation on my rather sensitive skin. It has brought a slight luster on my skin, but the main difference was the change in hyper pigmentation, which i believe has faded a lot over my use.

Would I repurchase again- a very vehement yes, it has attained Holy Grail status in my routine.

dimethicone

A silicone that helps to reduce water loss from the surface of the skin. Can temporarily "fill in" lines and wrinkles, absorb oil, and create a nice product finish

4.1% - 6.1%

tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate

Being a lipid soluble form of vitamin C. It is more stable than ascorbic acid, but still degrades quickly and needs to be stabilized in a formulation with another ingredient. It is claimed to penetrate skin better than pure vitamin C and have the the similar benefits, but solid studies of its effectiveness are lacking. Is likely to require a higher concentration in a product than pure vitamin C to be effective.

A type of peptide. Peptides are excellent moisturizers and might be able support collagen production reducing fine lines and wrinkles

3.7% - 5.6%

Pure form of vitamin E. Can help moisturise and protect the skin from free radicals. Often used to help stabilise other ingredients or the formula itself

0.95% - 1.4%

magnesium ascorbyl phosphate

A derivative of vitamin C that is more stable, but less bioavailable than the pure form of vitamin C. It does not penetrate the skin well, but has been shown to convert to pure vitamin C once in skin. It can be helpful in stimulating collagen production and lightening the skin tone, but the required concentration is likely to be very high

0.85% - 1.25%

A potent anti-oxidant that has been shown to be effective in neutralizing free radicals in skin. There seem to have a synergetic effect of ferulic acid, vitamin E and C, meaning that when the ingredients are used together, they enhance each other's ability protect the skin against free radicals. Ferulic acid also helps to stabilize other ingredients - including vitamins C and E. It can help to even out the skin tone. Ferulic acid is approved for use as a sunscreen ingredient in Japan in concentrations up to 10%

This is why the full anti-oxidant effect of EGCG is typically not realized when it is added to topical skincare
