The 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 oil pressure sensor can be found on the passenger side of the engine compartment right above the oil filter. You can access the sensor from either above or below the vehicle when trying to replace it. To remove the oil pressure sensor You will need a 10mm socket to get it detached from engine block. Some of the symptoms that can be attributed to this problem are a ticking sound coming from the engine and the low pressure error code. Another cause can be the oil pressure control solenoid or a damaged rod in the oil filter housing that is causing problems. The cost for diagnosis and replacement will range from $150 - $300 depending on the parts and how much labor is required for the repair.

The oil pressure sensor on the 2004 dodge ram 1500 is located near the back and top of the engine compartment.

  • Carquest -Engine Oil Pressure Sensor (Part No.59C1003)

    Description

The CarQuest Vehicle Solutions line of vehicle electronics are designed for OE form, fit and function for both import and domestic vehicles. The oil pressure sensor reports engine oil system pressures to the on-board computer or directly to a dash light, and when oil pressure is low, will notify on-board computers and illuminate the low oil pressure warning light. When not replaced, vehicle operator may not be notified of engine oil pressures falling below critical limits. A failing or improperly functioning oil pressure sensor will provide erratic or inaccurate readings to on-board computers, affecting performance and system function. In more advanced vehicles, an improperly functioning oil pressure sensor may not notify on-board computers of critical system pressure, thus not allowing the computers to place the vehicle into limp mode to protect the engine.

    Product Features:

    • The CarQuest Vehicle Solutions line of aftermarket sensors meet commercial demands and are competitively priced, providing professional technicians and DIY customers with an affordable alternative for repairs.
    • Designed and manufactured with quality materials, industry leading electronic components and strict quality controls. Engineered to meet OE performance.
    • Direct fit replacement matches proper OE fit, form, and function and ensures trouble free installation of your oil pressure sensor.

Would not fit in a standard oil sensor socket so I installed with an adjustable wrench. My oil pressure now shows correctly. Installed in a 2001 Grand Cherokee 4.0L.

What happens if oil pressure sensor goes out?

When this sensor goes bad, it will start to give inaccurate readings. After the readings fall out of specification, a warning light is set. The faster this sensor can be replaced, the less stress you will have regarding the oil levels in your vehicle.

Can you drive with a broken oil pressure sensor?

While your car will run normally without the sensor, driving without an oil pressure sensor is an unnecessary risk. Low oil can cause serious, expensive damage to your engine.

How do I know if my oil pressure sensor is broken?

Signs Of A Faulty Oil Pressure Sensor Your car's oil pressure gauge will give a good indication of the overall oil levels in the engine. In case the Low oil light comes on, and you check the oil and find its okay, then you certainly have a faulty oil pressure sensor.
