The first sign of trouble was when we noticed that our LED Christmas lights were slightly illuminated even when the plug was set to off.In fairness I do imagine that some of my other issues could be due to the limitations of Z-wave, e.g. too much distance. With about 30 feet and a wall in between, the device seems to lose its pairing every week or two, requiring a "restart."The last time I had a connectivity issue, I noticed that the plug was partially melted (see photo). Again I'm not sure whether to blame the plug or the device that was plugged into it. But I don't see the UL Listed stamp either.When they worked, I really loved being able to see the energy usage, and graph it over time on the initialstate website. Reviews with images

I used it to record consumption about my modern AC that's pretty efficient no problem, but it auto shut off when recording an older AC. I think it's a good candidate for home automation and monitoring, but if you need to monitor or control a heavier load then I recommend Zooz. But for the price, these units are fantastic. Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2022 Let me do the bad first, because it's mostly good! The problem is that these plugs don't work great as repeaters. I replaced an older Insteon system with Z-Wave using the Nio plugs to control lights. Everything worked except for a security light in the garage. It was perhaps 40 feet from the closest working Nio plug, and it just would not connect. I could move the plug into a closer socket and it would set up fine, but even if I set it up, it wasn't reliable in the garage. I've ordered range extenders to deal with this problem, but they've not come yet. On the good side, in sockets that are close enough to each other to create a mesh, the plugs are great. The setup on Hubitat was fairly easy (the only issues are Hubitats and not Nio) and they control reliably with hub rules and with Google Home. I like the 13-amp rating and the overload warning; if you have high-current lights anywhere or appliances, it should handle most of them. Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2022 I tried this model after using another smart switch for years. It's cute! - compact (so will fit in outlets the other one wouldn't) and seemed more reasonably priced. Setup was a little clunky - it took a few attempts fiddling with buttons to get it ready to include but then it appeared on the controller. Almost as soon as I paired it though, it disappeared. I figured I'd troubleshoot in the morning. By morning it was available and I tested it a few times - didn't reliably switch on/off. I thought maybe... a range issue but it was probably at best 20 feet almost line of sight from the controller around a small corner. Sure enough, I can make it work under 20 feet line of sight.. but the slightest obstruction and it doesn't respond. Other smart switches work up and down two stories but not this one. I did a head to head comparison and the aerotec models just work. I'll keep this and use it in the same room as the controller but if you have any distance requirements, I don't think this will work unfortunately which is sad.. cause it's quite cute. fatal flaws. Good - Small, Low Power, Very configurable, 3 prong polarized receptacle. Bad - Loose receptacle connections, Bugs in firmware for power and current reporting. First off DO NOT use this with any high power loads. The receptacle connections are very loose and will not create a good connection. As you can see in other reviews this will cause the connections to heat up and melt this device. Worst case this could start a fire. Should be ok for low power devices but this indicates poor design or poor quality control. Next the Current and Power monitoring are very nice however there is a bug in the Neo firmware that causes it to report large negative numbers for the power and current monitoring. Depending on your controller system this will generate errors every few minutes. Such a shame as this device would be great if they would fix these major issues. This device will report for following information about the load. The Plug draws <1W Off and ~1W with the relay On. There is a standalone countdown auto Off feature that can be enabled and you can set the minutes until it automatically turns Off. You can select if the state of the load is remembered and will be reapplied after a power cycle or if the unit will just leave the load Off after a power cycle. You can enable or disable the button. You can enable or disable the LED (so that it is always Off). Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2022 Great sensor for the price and what it does. Zwave pairing can be tricky. If you only want on/off switch integration with SmartThings hub, the product instructions are adequate to pair with the built-in device handler. In JAN 2022 I received the Neo Coolcam Power Plug new US model 1027, labeled on the box “NAS-WR02” The advanced configuration parameters (booleans to enable power monitoring) seem to have changed since the original. I can’t fault the PDF instructions for being inaccurate but they don’t indicate hardware models or revision numbers or date stamps. SmartThings device handlers seem to not support this model (since about 2019). If you bought this for power monitoring and energy consumption, the custom device handler “Neo Coolcam Power Plug v1.2.7” on GitHub enables the monitoring sensors in SmartThings. This code needs to be loaded and published on the SmartThings website under “My Device Handlers” prior to adding the new device.
