We LOVE this swing set. We have a 5 & 7 year old. The kids will not over grow this thing. Very sturdy. We did not anchor the legs. I am 5'10 & 200lb. My Husband is 6'0 (he is pictured next to the slide) we can get on & swing as high as the kids with no issues. This thing is TALL. I have to stand on my tip-toes in order to get a grip on the monkey bars. We bought this as a Christmas present. My husband was able to assemble individual sections in the garage in order to keep it hidden. My husband & father where easily able to carry the assembled sections out into the yard bolt them together. It is movable once completely assembled. It would take 4 people to move it forward (someone to lift the slide) but could probably be done with 3 if moving backwards (away from the slide).Delivery was easy. Came on an 18 wheeler in a long crate. Driver was awesome, he put everything inside the garage for me. This will require multiple hours to assemble but well worth it. I am so glad I spent the extra $ and didn't go with the set they would outgrow by the age of 8.

You can read all the reviews and nearly all of them are gushing about this play set. I now know the reason!

The set arrived in a wooden crate wide and long enough for the slide. There were 3 boxes under the slide. The delivery guy was great in getting closest to where it would be put together, but make sure you are prepared to help unload - our delivery did not have a lift, so we tipped it on end to get it out of the truck and gently set it on the ground.

The pieces were all packed very well with plastic, foam, etc. Before my help arrived, I laid all the pieces out near the site it would be put together (I placed it on grass...might do rubber mulch later, but wanted to see placement before ripping up my yard). The hardware comes in 3 packs (cardboard backing with plastic to show what the pieces are). The labeling is pretty good - it tells you at the top if it's for the Frame Assembly, the Monkey Bar Assembly, etc. You will be able to figure out which piece is which, but it's interesting in the instructions that they will call a bolt a 3 letter code to put in the drawing, but on the packaging, those codes are not used. I'm not sure why this is, considering they give you exactly the right hardware for each section (even when many of the bolts and nuts are used elsewhere).

My help and I were not rushing anything. Once we got our wits about what the pieces and hardware were, it became very easy. So, I would recommend taking your time and don't tighten any of the bolts/nuts until the section is together. We were finished in less than 2 and 1/2 hours. I am usually quick to pick up the power tools and just go carefully, however, I only used a drill one time to bore the holes in the slide (they were there, but the plastic wasn't open to pass the bolt through). I also used a socket wrench for the several acorn nuts. Otherwise, I used the tools contained in the packaging. The instructions were well-done and easy enough to follow. We never assembled anything incorrectly and had to redo something (which isn't typical in my assembly experiences). The only thing we ever had to do again was loosen a couple bolts so other bolts could be fit into their places and after that occurred, we kept all bolts loose and returned to tighten when the section was complete. The hardware is excellent and even the allen wrenches were quality.

Since most of the construction involves the bolts with a threaded nut, I thought I'd share our technique that helped us. The bolt and nut look identical once they are joined together from the outside (which makes the set safe from anything sticking out). The nut is about an inch long and the bolt goes through the large pipes to "blindly" be screwed together. In placing them near the ends, look into the pipe from the opening to line up the bolt and nut. In other places, I found it to be helpful to place the bolt in all the way straight, peek into the hole to see the point, then place the nut inside. You won't be able to screw these together by hand too far because of the locking compound. (A few earlier reviews commented on too much compound or broken bolts...this was not the case. I believe Lifetime must follow their reviews or suggestions on this as well as handrails by the slide). I tightened these bolts with the wrenches only to the point they were touching the metal pipe. Then, I placed the others. After that section of the set was together, I went back and tightened them completely.

There were only minor issues in putting the set together: The labeling of hardware in the diagram is not the same on the packaging, some "blind" spots putting the bolts/nuts together were challenging when the end caps were included, and the holes in the slide needed bored.

Now, the fun begins! My girls who are 5 and 6 love the different areas of the set. My 6 year old is able to handle monkey bars, but the height still concerns me. My 5 year old needs my help right now to do the monkey bars because the drop would be too great for her. I am pleased that they will grow into this (rather than grow out of it) in the coming years. Everything is top-notch engineering, construction, aesthetics, and physical fun! We had plenty of kids playing on it last night (including a 14 year old) and the set didn't move from place.

Overall, the question "Would you buy this again," can be answered this way: "I won't have to!" The set is built for years of fun...a Lifetime! Would I recommend it to friends, absolutely!

I looked long and hard for a swing set to meet my needs and I found the prefect fit in this product. We're renting our current home and I didn't want something super expensive and permanent like a large wood set. A cheaper wood set might have worked since I could just leave it at the house when we move in a year or two, but they tend to be small. This was a 6th birthday present for my daughter and she's already almost too big for most of the sub-$500 stuff on the market that's meant for smaller children. I also have never understood the current infatuation with wooden swing sets. They're either super expensive or made from cheap wood that requires constant upkeep to keep it from drying/rotting/falling apart. They also require tremendous effort to assemble or you have to pay somebody another several hundred dollars to assemble it for you. They also produce splinters. I guess they look kinda cool, but I can't think of much else to recommend them. This swing set is really sturdy even though it isn't anchored. It's powder coated thick-gauge steel that should last a long time. It's large enough your kids will never outgrow it. I'm 6'1" 175lbs. I can easily use the swings and my feet don't drag the ground on the monkeys bars if I just bend my knees a little bit. The set costs less than decent quality wood sets with similar features. Best of all, since it's easy to assemble and not anchored, I figure I can partially disassemble it and take it with us when we finally buy a house of our own.

I put this swing set together in a couple of afternoons. I probably spent an hour opening everything and laying out the pieces, about 6 hours actually putting it together, and another hour cleaning up the tools, packaging, and boxes afterwards. That's 8 hours total, maybe 9 tops. That was completely by myself and, get this, in snow (day 1) and mud/slush (day 2). Because of the fine motor skills needed to line up holes and start screw threads I couldn't wear gloves so I was taking breaks every 15 minutes to warm my fingers up enough to be able to feel them again. On a nice day, this whole project would have taken about 6-7 hours I think. Full disclosure: I'm an engineer and have been turning wrenches around the house and on cars since I was about 5. You're results may vary.

Tips:
1) I had to use a drill to open up the holes on a few of the plastic end caps since they didn't line up right. It cost me about 10 minutes of time. Not a big deal. No impact to form or function whatsoever.
2) The shoulder bolt/shoulder nut system they use for this is a fantastic choice from an engineering/structural standpoint, but they can be a little tricky to line up and get the thread started since you often have to mate the two pieces blind (inside the steel tubes). Be patient. You can forcefully shove and wiggle the fasteners to get them lined up, but don't force the threads. You'll regret it if you strip them out. Which brings me to #3.
3) All the parts are well packaged and clearly labeled (Great!). There is not one single spare of ANYTHING included (Not Great). You get exactly the number of screws, bolts, washers, etc. necessary to put it together. Break one, loose one, you are S.O.L. Making this fact even more daunting is that the aforementioned ingenious shoulder bolts/shoulder nuts are not the sort of thing you can run out to a local hardware store and find. If you end up short, you'll probably have to contact the manufacturer and wait for more to come in the mail.

I like everything about this set . First I want to thank the company. I had a pricing issue which Amazon did not resolve but referred me to contact the seller. They were understanding and quick to resolve the problem and I would buy from them again.

This is well made in my opinion. It was easy to assemble. My daughter and I did it in a few hours without any problems. I like the flat seat so adults can swing, unlike molded seat that do not fit our hips. I like the coated chain on the swings that feels good in your hands. The poles are large. The packaging and instructions are clear. It came with two anchoring cables which I found to be different but effective. My yard is not level and I will contact the sell to purchase two just for safety on uneven ground. As you can see the anchoring system is close to the legs and out of the way when doing lawn trimming. The caps for the legs are large and will allow the set to settle into the ground over time.

The slide is awesome. It is heavy duty and it feels very safe and comfortable when used by adults. The fireman's pole has a rod which is part of the equipment when installed in the ground keeps it sturdy.

My first pick was a playground set with a house or canopy but thinking about the insects and animals that might live in the corners in off season, I opted for this instead. This is the better choice of the two, no hidden corners and easy to spray or wipe down.

I did move the rings from the side and put them in the middle to offset the balance. For me and my great-grands this was worth my money and I would buy it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars great set

We were wondering what to buy for 6/8 year old and growing up, basic walmart sets were just too low and cheap, this set is on par with the timber houses, but your kids will get a lot more use out of it.
This is good and sturdy enough for teenagers as well.
Easy (though long) to build, does not require anchors, even me as an adult I can swing high enough using the swing the closest to the T and it wont lift of the ground.
Paint is perfect after a year, and so are all the screws and hooks.

I definitetely recommend this set.
note that it comes in a huge wooden pallet, which I actually used for side projects.
Two adults required to assemble

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing design.. stands alone with its own anchors from all the extensions.

Took us probably longer to put together - a good half day- but we had fun doing it. Our challenge was finding even ground to set it on. We have ended up with a very fast slide as that area goes down hill so it is a super exciting slide! We would have preferred a gentler slide for the littler ones but we will turn the whole thing around if we think necessary so slide will go in the opposite direction. And yes, we were able to lift it with 4 people quite easily before slide and fire pole went on, to find the best area for the whole thing.

We have young children, aged 2-6, so they will grow into it and love it a long time. An excellent product to promote health and activity.

Would we choose it again? Absolutely!

5.0 out of 5 stars 7 and 9 love this swing set

Reviewed in Canada on June 22, 2015

The children 5, 7 and 9 love this swing set.

Packaging and delivery. Excellent. The Canadian Delivery service to Ottawa in June was professional and courteous. The packaging material itself was very sturdy. You need a hammer to disassemble the wooden crate. It is large.. size of a small car.

Assembly. Best if done with at least 2 people. My husband and his friends easily assembled the set in 3 hrs. Make sure to carefully count and organize the hardware.

Play. The children love this set. If two larger children - ie 60 lb plus - swing in the same direction, in tandem, and parallell, the swing set tends to lurch forwards and backwards. I remind the children to swing opposite from each other. And the set is fine. The quality as of 1 month seems great, and the children are getting lots of enjoyment from it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality.

I'm so pleased with the quality of this set. It was so quick and simple to put together. Solid and my kids love it.

The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because two ends were slightly bent, possibly from shipping, which made putting the end caps on those two spots difficult.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful play structure for the yard!

Reviewed in Canada on June 26, 2013

I searched for a long time before deciding on the type of play structure to purchase for my kids. One of the reasons why I chose Lifetime Monkey Bar Adventure Swing Set is because it can withstand quite substantial combined weight. Older children can safely play on it as well.
It was extremely easy to assemble - all the parts went it smoothly and we had no issues with the hardware. It took 1.5 people to put it together just over 2 hours.
This play structure might not be correct for smaller kids (younger than 3 years of age).
I would absolutely recommend this product!!!

Delivery was a piece of cake as well - be prepared it comes in a big crate.

How long do lifetime swing sets last?

In general, swing sets last about 15 to 20 years. However, the life expectancy of a swing set can vary depending on the quality of the material used and the degree of craftsmanship. For example, a poorly made metal swing set will not last as long as a high-quality wooden one.

Can you add monkey bars to a swing set?

Adding Monkey Bars — This is one of the most popular swing set add-on ideas, and it isn't hard to see why. Adding monkey bars to a swing set provides an entirely new and athletic way to play.

What are lifetime swing sets made of?

All of our metal swing sets are constructed from weather protected steel and polyethylene plastic to resist rusting, fading, and heat retention.

Does a swing set increase home value?

From our experience, a well-built swing set or play set will absolutely add resale value to your home — and can even make your house a must-buy for the right person. Of course, lots more homeowners want to take their sets with them when they move.
