Models i12040 and i12080 have a 9-Volt Battery Back Up and the model i12080

has a battery powered safety light.

Thank you for purchasing this smoke alarm. It is an important part of your family's

Kidde alarms and accessories CAN ONLY BE interconnected with other Kidde alarms

and accessories as well as specified brands and models of interconnect compatible

alarms. Connection of Kidde products to a non-specified manufacturer's interconnect

system, or connection with non-specified equipment from another manufacturer into

an existing Kidde system could result in nuisance alarming, failure to alarm, or dam-

age to one or all of the devices in the interconnect system. Refer to the User's Guide

supplied with each Kidde product for interconnect compatible models, brands, and

devices. Refer to the wiring instructions in section 3 for NFPA initiating device limits.

Need to replace old Firex alarm?

PLEASE READ. You should replace ALL your old Firex alarms with this new i12040A units to maintain communication between all alarms.

Since old Firex and new replacement have different wiring harness, the existing wiring harness needs to be changed.

If you don't want to rewire, you need to get a quick convert adapter Kidde KA-F and perform 3-easy-step installation:

Replace the ceiling mounting bracket
Install KA-F adapter and attach existing wiring to the alarm.
The new alarm will now be interconnected and compatible with your Firex alarm system.

Technical Spec

The Kidde i12040A is an AC/DC powered, ionization smoke alarm that operates on a 120V power source with 9V battery backup.

This alarm uses ionization sensing technology. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner that photoelectric alarms. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms.

This smoke alarm is available in a 6-piece cut case with tray for easy display as well as a 6-piece bulk pack for contractors and property owners. This unit is a UL Listed product with a 5-year limited warranty.

Easy Installation

Front battery pull tab allows battery activation without removing alarm from mounting bracket.
Large mounting base makes mounting easier, protects surface paint from dirt and covers imperfections.
Pre-stripped wiring harness with easy off cap does not require stripper tool. Tinned strands increase conductivity and wire nut grip.

One button design for easy operation and less confusion. Operates Smart Hushº and alarm test
Battery run down protection will shut down alarm memory when AC power is not present, reducing low battery chirp.
Dust cover protects sensor from contaminates during construction reducing nuisance alarms
