How to use bissell proheat essential carpet cleaner

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke after 1 1/2 weeks
Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2017

Have had it a few weeks, the latch broke off the cleaning tank already which renders the machine useless since it can’t vacuum up the water. Called Bissell, they’re sending a new tank, but considering I only used it to clean three rooms so far I’m guessing this will be a repeating problem unless they have reengineered the replacement tanks so the plastic doesn’t snap when you are latching the tank closed.*Update, they sent a new tank, right out of the box still wrapped in plastic it was broken in the same exact spot that mine broke. Another call to Bissell to have them send me the part for free, which takes about a week and a half... so I got to use it the weekend I got it, it broke the next weekend and now I'll be unable to use it for 20 days... So much for a convenient carpet cleaner.

I’ll try that home with a carpet that was damage had very dark spot. I was able to climb it. It look clean
It was a little difficult, pushing it backwards and forward, but it works functions very good. I need gas, brush the carpet as well. Great product for the price.

Product does a good job, not great. Real irritation is with Bissell support. A couple of months ago I contacted them about getting a replacement power cord. To date they have not responded. Will not be purchasing a Bissell in the future.

It cleaned the carpet very well. Pulled up a lot of deep dirt. Every stain was removed, oxyclean helped. The living spaces smell fresher and I guess healthier, if that makes sense. Maybe there was some mold, and the oxyclean kills it, while this machine removed it.

Cleaning the machine after use isn’t too tough, just takes a bit of effort to get the gunk out of a couple of tight spots, but a shower hose with spray options makes it easier. As far as suction goes, it is pretty strong, not as good as a commercial cleaner obviously, but going over the same spot multiple times gets the same result. I’m not referring to the actual carpet itself getting dried, but the spongy foam pad under the carpet. It seems like the weight of the machine is just barely enough to help cause a bit of a squish to it along with the suction to pull the water out. Hence really working the same area over multiple time is for the best. The carpet was dry enough to walk on within 30 - 60 mins, and then furniture was next up.

This machine did an impressive job cleaning our light gray carpet. We normally hire a company to do the job, for the same price this machine costs. Sure it's a major project, but we were very happy with the end result. Not only did it pull out 2 years of COVID dust and cat hair, it was also dry by the end of the day. It's not as heavy as older Bissel models we've owned over the years but it still extracted much of the water used. All carpet cleaners are a PITA to use and clean, but at least this one did what it claims it can do. We'd recommend this machine if you're up for the chore.

As a carpet cleaner I would probably give this 1 star. As an overall floor cleaner I would give it 4 stars.I don’t and would never use this on a carpet. It definitely doesn’t suck up the water the way it should and it leaks! I use it to clean my vinyl floors in my kitchen. Not only does it eliminate the mop/bucket but it lifts all the nasty water leaving a cleaner floor. Again, the only down sides are that you have to empty it right away and leave it out to make sure that any water that is going to leak does so on flooring that won’t be damaged. You would never know this if you only used it on carpeting.

I decided to buy this carpet cleaner after my other Bissell stopped spraying water after getting tons of use out of it. When you open the box, setting it up is pretty straight forward. You just need a Phillips screwdriver which is not provided, you don't really need to read the instructions but i recommend you read the other parts of it, but i'll get to that in a minute. So after setting it up i noticed a the floor nozzle that sucks up the water was cracked, i contacted Bissell themselves and got a new part coming. So yes the part was cracked but i wanted to clean my filthy hallway carpets upstairs. I have a black border collie and a 2 year old and lots of guests over with tan rugs so you could only imagine how dirty the carpets get. I did like that cleaner compartment had a cover to it even though its kinda useless in a way since it will leak out if you tip it too much to dump the dirty water. The container is much nicer than other models and the clip on the back makes it easy to secure the top on. I set the machine up and went to work with cleaning my carpets, well about 15 minutes in the machine started to make a grinding noise like something was stuck. I turned the machine off and checked with nothing stuck. I turned it back on and still made a grinding noise but even louder. I grabbed the book and looked in the troubleshooting section with nothing on noises in the book. So you have to read the section where it explains how to take the Belt cover off, because if you have any dog hair on your carpet you'll be opening this part up a lot. The small amount of dog hair that was left on my carpet was getting caught around a part of the belt and had to be removed. The machine then stopped making the grinding noise and i continued on my way. It happened a bout 1 more time in my hallway where i was forced to take it apart again. When it came to my bedroom where my dog spends a lot of time i had to vacuum about 3 times with my Dyson, even then the machine pulled up dog hair and forced me to take it apart about 8-10 times. Make sure you get a good vacuum in before using this machine or you'll be cleaning it a lot. Besides the trouble i had with it, the machine does an amazing job at cleaning and my carpets have never looked better. Overall i would recommend it over some of the more expensive models that are out there.

It stop working after having it for a year. Don’t waste your hard earned money. And I love Bissell products usually they are great but this must have been that one that went through that didn’t pass inspection

Do you have to rinse carpet after using Bissell carpet cleaner?

Step 5: Rinse Your Carpets (Optional) An optional step that we recommend if you have time is to go back over the cleaned carpet again with only hot tap water in the tank (no formula this time). This will remove any leftover formula and give your carpets an extra clean.

Does the Bissell ProHeat actually heat the water?

Despite its name being the Bissell ProHeat, this carpet cleaner doesn't actually heat up the water it uses to clean your floors.
