How to unlock a dodge dakota without keys

After doing a great deal of research, I ordered two of these fobs despite Amazon noting at the top of the product page that "this does not fit your 2007 Dodge Dakota." I believed these would work and they do. Admittedly, I haven't used either much, but all the functions work as well as the original fob.Had I simply gone with Amazon's declaration at the top of the page, I may have gone to a dealer and paid twice as much for only one fob than I have in the purchase and programming of the two I ordered.In the attached photo, the center key is the original and the outside keys are the newly purchased ones

I purchased this for my wife's 2015 Patriot. When we bought the vehicle, a repo w/ only the spare key with no remotes. I first purchased to remotes similar to these. Since I only had 1 working key, I had to pay the stealership to program them. Though the dealer I used was very nice and not all that bad of a fee considering. One of the new keys was lost along the way. Before another went missing (you would have to know my wife) I wanted to replace the missing key so I could program it myself. So here are the tips. If it says in the owners manual you can program on your own, then you can. Follow the procedures. I kept waiting for an audible sound indicating the vehicle was in key program mode. Well, it didn't do that. So I messed up waiting for the ding. Well, if you mess up, it will lock you out from being able to do it yourself for 2 days. After that, you can once again program. Put the first key in, turn to the on position for more than 5 seconds and less than 15 seconds. Within 15 seconds put the second key in and turn to the on position. After 5 to 10 seconds look for a little red LED bulb to light up indicating it is in program mode. Take out before 15 seconds. Again within 15 put the new key in and turn to the On position without trying to start. After about 5 seconds that LED light will blink a few times to let you know if programmed. Now trying starting the vehicle with the new key. If it starts and then cuts off, you didn't get it right and you now get to wait 2 days before trying again.

Getting the key cut. Big box stores won't do it since it has a chip in it. Thought they have machines that are the easiest to cut them. Find an old hardware store that has been cutting keys for a longtime and they can normally cut it for you. The old school machines are too tight and need often need part of the machine casing to be removed to be able to cut the whole key. So newer hardware stores with these machines will turn you down as well. The issues are with the shape of the remote not being friendly for the machines. All in all, I have the process down now and no issues so far. I will update this review should I have any future issues.

Fast shipping. Item as described. Door lock and unlock work fine. Unable to get remote start to work. I need to get PIN code from Chrysler in order to get this function to work

When I ordered this key it said it was a match for my 2008 Dodge Dakota but it is not. We took it to a locksmith who programmed it when I couldn’t. It will start the truck but the lock / unlock does not work.

The description says it’s a replacement for a dodge nitro key, but it really isn’t. I took this key, had it cut and programmed and all the buttons work except the remote start. The shop told me it’s because the buttons aren’t the same size as the original key, so beware if you have a Dodge nitro. Otherwise the key can be programmed to lock/unlock a Nitro.

So far so good, the remote start doesn’t work for it other than that it works fine, I’ve only had it about a week will let you know if they are still working in a month

Had a problem finding a place to program the key
They could cut the key but couldn’t program
The other place couldn’t program that kind of key they said. Had to take to the dealership cost less thin $100 to have 2 programmed. One stoped working put a new battery in it still didn’t work had to bend the tabs so it would make contact with the battery and it started working again

I got the keys cut at a locksmith for $5 each. I programmed the keys per the instructions and they both appeared to work. The new keys would lock/unlock the doors but would not remote start. The keys only worked for about a week then stopped. Now nothing works. It's been a week since I email the seller and they haven't responded. Update: Both of the keys stopped working about the same time. I removed the batteries and reinstalled and the keys will lock/unlock the doors again. The remote start still won't work. The keys have stopped working twice since I purchased them and resetting the battery worked both times. There is a small screw that has to be removed to open the key. I suggest throwing the screw in the trash or carrying a small screwdriver for the next time it stops.
