Step 1First you will need to assemble the rear door surrounds. Door surrounds will be labeled left and right. Use the provided door surround seals and hardware to connect the bottom C-Channel and upper door surround. The seal has a pin that fits nicely into the bottom portion of the door surround. Step 2Use T40 Torx bit, supplied shoulder bolts and 2 washers to connect the door surround pieces. Repeat process for Driver side. Step 3Attach tailgate bar brackets to rear body of tub next to the tailgate. Use one supplied T50 bolt. Step 4Next you are going to attach the roll bar brackets to the roll bars. First remove the roll bar trim piece pictured. Grab the piece securely and pull towards the center of the vehicle. Step 5Use the T40 bolts to connect the sport bar brackets. These are marked right and left hand as well as which side goes up along with 2 locating pins to make sure the bracket goes in the exact right spot. Repeat this process for the driver side. Step 6Next you can go ahead and install the door surrounds on the vehicle. Start with the front door surrounds. Place the bracket on top of the sport bar above the passenger side door, there are 2 notches that will drop into the holes on the top of the sport bar. Step 7Install the bolts from underneath the sport bar. Step 8Same as with the front door surrounds, the rear door surrounds have notches that fit into the top of the sport bar. In addition there are a couple pegs on the bottom of the surround that fit into the belt rail of the Wrangler. Step 9Be careful to not crush the weather seal on top of the B-pillar between the front and rear door of the Wrangler. Now flip the hinged pieces of the surround up and insert the bolts the same way as the fronts. Tighten down both bolts. Then repeat same process for the driver side. Step 10
Next you are going to attach the soft top portion. You can leave the protective cover and straps on until you get the top situated on the back of the Jeep, this will make it easier to move around and handle. Step 11Once the top is placed on the back remove the arm straps. Take the lower arms and place them in the sportbar brackets. Step 12Now use the two T40 bolts to fasten it in place. Step 13Repeat the same process for the driver side. Now take the upper arms and you’ll notice there is a roller that will slide into the rear door surrounds. Step 14Pull the locking tab back and slide the arm into place. Step 15Now you can go ahead and remove the protective cover. The last thing you need to do before putting the soft top up is to release the locking mechanisms on each side that hold the top in place. Just apply a little downward pressure to the top and the locks will slide right up. Step 16Now lift the top into place. Step 17Grab the windows and slide them into place. There is a bead on the top that the window channels will slide into. Step 18Once the window is all the way in, take the plastic channel flap by the door and slide that into the rear door surround. Step 19Now take the bottom plastic channel flap on the window and slide that into the body tub rail. Step 20The final part of inserting the window is taking the plastic piece by the tailgate placing the top part in first then the bottom part will lock in place. Repeat process on opposite side. Step 21The Rear window will install the same way as the top of the side windows. Just slide the window into place. Step 22Now you’re going to install the tailgate retainer bar into the rear window. Make sure the weather stripping is facing the bottom then slide the retainer bar into the window. Step 23Now the tailgate bar will lock into the two tailgate brackets you installed earlier on the body tub. Step 24Once that is in place, there are two more plastic strips you can tuck in on both sides. Step 25The final step is to push in the two little strips at the bottom of the rear window. Congratulations! Your soft top is now installed! Once that top is installed, your work isn't entirely finished. Sure, you are done with all the heavy lifting, but protecting that top's material and zippers—as well as finding a decent solution to store those windows when you fold the top down—is also important. So products such as Bestop's Soft Top Cleaner and Protectant can be crucial to maintaining that top's appearance year-round. Plus, constantly installing and removing those windows can take a toll on the window zipper system, so it helps to have a zipper cleaner and lubricant to make sure everything continues to work the way it should. Finally, storing those windows when you decided to recline the top down on a nice day can be tricky. You can put them in the back seat or cargo area, but then you subject the delicate vinyl window to scratches. A great way to eliminate that possibility is by picking up a Mopar Soft Top Window Storage Bag. That way your windows can live in secure comfort away from the top, and you don't have to worry about damage. For more soft top accessory options, check out our Jeep Soft Top Accessory Page.
