How to connect a new airpod case

If you just got a replacement Airpods and you are looking to figure out how to connect new Airpod to case. You are at the right place.

Before going into the steps needed to do this, there are some things you ought to know before connecting your new AirPods

Firstly, if the Airpods is of a different model as compared to the case eg. connecting an Airpods Gen 1 case with Airpods Gen 2 or connecting a Pro case with a different Airpods model. It won’t work.

Before connecting your replacement AirPods with another Airpods, you have to reset the original one with the replacement.

• Launch your smartphone and navigate to settings
• Locate and tap on Bluetooth.
• Tap on the information button with the icon “i” beside Airpods
• Next, tap “Forget This Device“.
• Tap Forget Device again to confirm your decision
• After doing all these, place both Airpods in the case both the old one and the replacement.
• Now, leave it and let it charge for at least 10 minutes.
• Ensure the lids are open and see if the indicator light is flashing an amber light

NB: In a scenario where the light isn’t flashing then you need to check If the case is charged or plugged in. 

If it is, remove the AirPods and put them back in place

• After charging it for a while, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case till the indicator light flashes white.
• Now, navigate to your iPhone home screen while bringing your Airpods case close your iPhone
• Once the setup appears on your iPhone, tap on connect
• Finally, tap on skip > Not Now > Done

NB: It is important to ensure that your Phone is unlocked throughout this process to force update and the Case must not be low, if it is you must ensure it is connected to a power source.

What if it doesn’t connect

In some scenarios, you could get replacement Airpods and after following these steps on how to connect new Airpod to case, you might not get it to connect to your case.

In cases like that, you need to Factory reset the AirPods.

But before doing that, Try a soft reset by following the steps below.

1. First and foremost, you need to disconnect your Airpods from your Mobile device
2. After doing that, Insert the Airpods into the case and leave it for 1 minute while the lids are closed
3. Next, open the charging case and long press the setup button till the indicator flashes an amber light
4. Now, try to reconnect your AirPods to your mobile device.

Replacement Airpods not pairing

If your replacement Airpods is not pairing with your device after trying the above steps, here is another alternative step you can take to pair them back

1. First and foremost, forget all Airpod Bluetooth connections on your smartphone devices. 
2. You can achieve this by going to Settings > Bluetooth > Airpods “i” > “forget device.
3. After doing that, put only 1 Airpod in the case.
4. Ensure the case is open to see a green light.
5. Next, press the button on the back till the light flashes white
6. Now, connect that single Earbuds to your smartphone.

Now take out that Earbud and insert the other Earbuds into the Case and repeat the steps above  

• After carrying out the step, pair that single Earbuds to your Smartphone.
• Once it is connected, put both Airpods in the case and wait for your phone to connect to both Airpods
• While both Airpods are in the case, it will be continuously flashing an orange light since the AirPods are different firmware.
• While they are both connected, plug the case into a charger and leave it open near your wifi-connected device.

During this process, your Airpods firmware will be updated and once it does, the light will change from orange to green

How to connect replacement Airpod pro

The procedure you’ll use to connect a replacement Airpod pro when compared to an Airpods is very similar.

Here is how to go about it

• On your smartphone navigate to settings
• Locate and tap on Bluetooth 
• Tap on the information button with the icon “i” beside Airpods
• Next, tap “Forget This Device“.
• “Tap Forget Device” again to confirm your decision
• After doing all these, place both Airpods in the case both the old one and the replacement
• Now, leave it and let it charge for at least 10 minutes.
• Leave the lids open and see if the indicator light is flashing an amber light

NB: In a scenario where the light isn’t flashing then you need to check If the case is charged or plugged in. 

• If it is, remove the AirPods and put them back in place
• After charging it for a while, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case till the indicator light flashes white.
• Now, navigate to your iPhone home screen while bring your Airpods case close your iPhone
• Once the setup appears on your iPhone, tap on connect
• Tap on skip > Not Now > Done

How to connect one Airpods if you lost it

If you lost a single Airpods you can connect it the way you’ve been doing since it doesn’t stop it from working. However, if you are using an Airpods, you might have to ensure that the settings needed to be able to carry out basic actions such as skipping a song are not restricted to only the lost earbuds

Can you connect two different AirPods Pro to one case?

As long as they are both of the same model eg Airpods Pro and Airpods or you can.

But then, the only issue you might face while connecting them is if they are running on different Firmwares.

Can you pair AirPods with a different case?

You can pair AirPods with a different case if they are the same model.

There are some cases made by other companies apart from apple that the casing fits perfectly with the AirPods or Airpods or Airpods pro.

With these third-party cases, you cannot pair your AirPods with them. However, you can charge your Airpods with them.
