Overall Opinion:
I’ve tried a lot of express mousses lately because they’re very popular right now. This time I tried out Bondi Sands 1 Hour Express. I think it’s a pretty average self tanner, so I gave it 2.75 out of 5 stars.
The one thing I really like about this mousse is the smell. It has that tropical, sweet smell that most Bondi Sands products are known for. You guys know I’m a sucker for a tropical scented self tanner!
I had some problems with the application process because the bottle kept getting clogged. Sometimes the mousse would come out normally and others barely any product would come out and it looked like silly string.
This mousse is a different texture than most; it’s more like a shaving cream texture. This made it pretty easy to blend into my skin.
Now, I left the product on for one hour, which says it should give me a dark tan. I definitely didn’t get a dark tan; my tan was more of a light to medium shade. It looked pretty natural and overall good, but it just wasn’t dark enough. It had a little bit of a yellow hue to it, but it was very faint.
So overall, I think this product is pretty average, and I ranked it 2.75 out of 5 stars.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
This isn’t like your average mousse with a light, bubbly texture. Bondi Sands 1 Hour Express comes out more like a heavy shaving cream.
The color is a light tan color, but once it oxidizes and goes on your skin, the color darkens to a deep brown.
Application
Usually when mousses have this texture, they’re pretty easy to apply. But the packaging of this bottle made it pretty difficult.
Sometimes the product would shoot out in skinny strings, looking like silly string, and sometimes it would come out of the bottle like normal. I think the bottle was becoming clogged a little which became quite annoying.
As I rubbed the mousse into my skin, the guide became darker, allowing me to see where I was applying the product.
The product seemed to blend in nicely, the texture helped it glide over my skin and soak up nicely.
Drying Time
The drying time for Bondi Sands 1 Hour Express isn’t bad. It dried in about 20-25 minutes, which is an average drying time.
It felt sticky on my skin for the whole time it was drying, which was uncomfortable. But at least I didn’t need to wait TOO long for it to dry.
Smell (Before Application)
This product smells really good.
It has a tropical, coconut smell that I’m in love with. The scent is very sweet.
Most Bondi Sands products have this scent, and I really like it.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
I had the product on my skin for an hour, and while I had it on, it smelled good.
I then washed it off and waited overnight for the product to develop. By the next morning, I could smell a little DHA, and no coconut scent.
Color Produced
So this is another one of the express mousses that are all the rage right now. The directions say to leave the product on anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours. 30 minutes to achieve a light/medium tan, 1 hour to achieve a dark tan, and 2-3 hours to achieve a very dark tan.
I left the Bondi Sands 1 Hour Express on for 1 hour before rinsing it off. I then waited overnight for my tan to develop. When I woke up in the morning, I had a light to medium tan, it was nowhere close to being a “dark” tan.
My tan was pretty natural looking, although it had a bit of a yellow tint. But it was really only noticeable to me.
I wish my tan was darker, but I’ve learned that the express mousses don’t get as dark in general.
So if you’re looking for a tan that’s dark, I’d try leaving this one on for 3 hours or look elsewhere.
My tan was only about 1-2 shades darker, unfortunately.
How Long It Lasts
My tan lasted only 3 days before it was pretty much nonexistent. This tanner will need to be applied at least twice weekly in order to maintain your tan.
OK For Men?
Men might like this one if they’re looking for a light glow and want to try out an express mousse. But don’t expect a dark tan.
