How can i text myself on imessage

Posted by2 months ago

I usually text myself my grocery list or other random reminders instead of using the reminders or notes app. Since updating to iOS 16, I noticed that messages to myself can only be sent as text messages, not iMessages. Is anyone else seeing this, and/or does anyone know why?

Noticed the same thing today. Very weird.

Not here on 12 pm. Same as usual

I have 13 Pm and have no issues. Check and make sure iMessage is active

try sending them to your email and not your phone number

I figured this out after trial and error. Maybe it’s a bug they never got to.

I tried this and it somehow made things worse. Sending/receiving now through two different contacts. But at least it's iMessage now? Ugh.

Did you figure this out? We’re out on a trip and relying on wifi at base camp to contact but my stupid iMessage isn’t working and I can’t send regular messages over wifi. Can’t figure out how to fix this!

Exact same problem here. Even worse that I’m in a group chat (all iPhones) and now sending to the group is sending as text and not iMessage.

Check your own name in contacts. I bet it shows as green (supposed to be blue).

Same for like weeks on beta. Removed profile and back to blue

On iPhone 11 and mine are showing up as iMessages

Just checked and I have the same issue. 13P. Always used to send important things to myself via imsg

Hey, just noticed today this is working. Must have been fixed in the latest iOS update.

Me too - unsure of the problem but is frustrating

I just noticed this issue with my iPhone 13 Pro. To correct it back to sending as iMessage: 1) Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and toggle off your phone number, then toggle it on again. 2) On the same screen, toggle iMessage off then on again. 3) Restarted your phone. Worked for me.

I have done this many years and never had an issue until iOS 16 update. I have done all kinds of troubleshooting. Still shows green. Anyone know what could cause this? My # is checked, iMessage is on, only does it to my own # -iMessage still works with others. Oh also if I start a new message and pick the exact same # but the blue one it works but when I send another message in same thread, it goes back to green. Please help! So frustrating. Thanks!

I had the same problem. Mine works now if I send the messages to my Apple ID email, but not my phone number.

This worked, THANKS!!!!!!!!

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

I used to send my iPhone text messages (to myself) and when I did, they would be sent in the blue bubble and then arrive (repeated basically) on the phone in the blue bubble. Now when I send them to myself, they are sent in the green bubble and they go to my email address. I don't want any text messages going to my email address. I don't even have my email address marked as a place where I can receive messages in my Settings. What can I do to stop this?

How are you selecting you to send the message to? If you go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, what shows there with a checkmark?

Texting Myself

Can I send a text message to myself?

Sending a text message to yourself is as easy sending one to a friend. All you have to do is open a new blank message and enter your own phone number in the To: field. What's more, if you find yourself using this trick a lot you can even add yourself to your own contact list!

How do you make a fake message on iMessage?

When you create your Fake Text Message, start a new text bubble by click the "+ Add Text Message" button. Then simply type in the message you want, and select the Blue square beside the message in order to make your message appear as a iOS iMessage.

How did I get a text from myself?

They've changed (spoofed) the caller ID to look like they're messaging you from your number, but the shock of getting a text from yourself is bound to get your attention — which is what they're after. If you get a text from your own number, it's a scam.
