They finally found a full size that met our original reservation request....BUT..it stunk of cigarette smoke (really bad) so we proceeded to air it out then clean it with freshener so that it was useable. Couldn't take it back as they had no more full size. Then while cleaning we find a large number of cockroaches running around in the trunk and under the floor mats so we had to spray for bugs before they go into our clothes and suitcases. I was surprised at Hertz and was not ready todo self-cleaning. The car operated well with no issues. As to the gas purchase offered at $4.30 per gallon that we had turned down, we filled up several times and before we turned in the car and never paid over $4.11. We had been told that area prices were approaching $5.00 which was not so. I have trusted Hertz for my rental cars on many occasions and this was my worst experience.
