“Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars” will have a local iteration on the Nine Network next year, the broadcaster has revealed.
Celebrity chef and reality TV stalwart Ramsay will be joined by business mogul Janine Allis in the local series.
Allis herself is no stranger to television, having appeared as on the Australian version of “Shark Tank” as a judge and investor, as well as “The Celebrity Apprentice Australia” as a boardroom advisor. As a competitor, she has appeared on “Australian Survivor”.
The show will be produced by Endemol Shine Australia, a Banjay company and Studio Ramsay Global, a Fox Entertainment company.
Nine said the show, which is already broadcasting in the U.K. and U.S. is a bold and competitive format which spotlights the difficulties of getting into the multi-billion-dollar food industry.
“Gordon and Janine are on the hunt for Australia’s most exciting and innovating new food ideas – searching high and low for the next food star to mentor and invest in,” Nine publicity said.
“Contestants will need to pitch their concept to win a spot in the competition, before surviving high-pressure challenges and intense grilling from two reigning food stars, determined to see if they’ve got the raw ingredients to become Food Stars. They’ll need to prove they have what it takes when it comes to service, marketing, branding and event management.”
The show will feature 14 potential food stars. The winner of “Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars” will take home a cash prize to kickstart their new business.
Battling it out for their place at the top will be Gordon and Janine’s competing teams – 14 potential food stars who are ambitious, competitive and creative. With one winning idea from each team to take home a cash prize to kickstart their new business, everything is on the line.
At Nine’s Upfront event, the broadcaster also unveiled a significant shake-up to its streaming platform 9Now, indicating it is shifting towards being a digital-first broadcaster instead of its traditional focus on linear television.
It also made a number of other programming announcements including a new drama series “Human Error”, a special event series “Australia’s Most Identical”, a new reality competition format “The Summit” and a two-part dramatisation of Shane Warne’s life.
