Does back to school time mean you’ll soon be walking into a room full of shiny new faces? If that’s you then you’re going to love this set of five free printable get to know you questions for kids. Use one page or use all of them.  I bet you’ll learn something that you never expected!

These get to know you questions for kids are just a simple way to get to know your little people and hopefully open the door to a conversation or two along the way.  I love that these answers are written as opposed to verbal.  While conversations about all the big stuff are certainly a goal they aren’t always an easy starting point.

As a fiercely private kid I doubt I ever offered up an an answer to questions like these unless absolutely forced to when I was in school.  I’d have chosen to sit back and listen to other’s answers every time.  By providing a place to write answers hopefully you, as a teacher, can learn something about all of your students, even the quietest.

You already know your kids…

Maybe you’re using these get to know worksheets with kids you already know.  The point isn’t to get to know your kiddos but to record some of the awesomeness of their ”right now.”  You know what I mean, those adorable answers kids give for that short window of time in their lives are so fun to look at years later.  these get to know you questions might just be a fun way to record some of those ‘right nows’ and learn about what your kiddo is looking forward to.

This is me…

I love the printable above because it’s so simple.  Write your name and draw a picture.  It’s just the basics, right?

This printable is a great way to get a baseline for your kiddo’s writing and drawing skills. I also like using resources such as this more than one time in a school year. It can be fun to watch as your student’s skills become stronger!

How does your students learn best…

This free printable get to know you worksheet is all about how your student learns best.  I’m guessing they don’t know all the technical jargon about learning styles.  Most kids, though, will know how they learn.

And, if they don’t know, it can be a good concept to think about and talk through.  Every person learns differently and being self aware enough to know how you learn best is a fantastic life skill.

Who’s looking forward to art class…

And…I had to include a special version of my get to know you worksheets just for my art teacher friends out there.  Art class should be fun.  As a teacher it’s very helpful to know what expectations your kids have of your class.  And knowing about rough experiences in the past can also be helpful.

What medium do they love? Is something in particular exciting to them? Of course all requests can’t be granted, but knowing what excites your kids is a fun way to excited yourself about the year ahead!

Let’s talk about families…

Let’s be real.  Families are complicated- every family.  (Ask me how I know.)

So, instead of asking specific questions that may not be applicable to every family I’ve provided a space for your kiddo space to draw or write whatever they’d like to share about their family.  Getting a peek into their home life can help you have some insight to a child’s behavior at school as well.
