Ge universal remote codes for roku tv

5.0 out of 5 stars Commonly used “Back Button” solution
Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2019

BACK BUTTON has flaws. It will return to a previous app instead of going back to the “movie” section while on Netflix for example. It’s NOT that button! It’s the button directly left to the “ok” button.

After years of my fiancé telling me that a universal remote wouldn't work with our devices in our living room, out of frustration one night I googled universal remote and this was the first one that came up. Well I’m soooo happy it did!!! Let me give you the breakdown of awesomeness for this remote:

Connects with my Sony Bravo Android TV. Even being able to move between my cable TV and the smart TV apps. Since I have Comcast, if I want to change channels, I need to push on the CBL button and type in the channel number and push ok. If I’m ready to use the apps on my TV, I push TV and then the home button. This allows me to move freely between my apps. Also check all of the codes. For me, with code 5321 it allows me to click on “app1” and Netflix pops up. None of the other “app” buttons work though. I’m sure the remote is specific to a certain brand of TV where all those buttons work.

Connects with Comcast (Xfinity). Note when setting this up I did NOT use the Xfinity code to pair the devices, but rather a Comcast code, specifically 1554. When pushing the CBL button, you can push the number of the channel you want to go to and ok. By pushing the home button, it pulls up the Comcast guide. By pushing the Menu button it pulls up your Xfinity button (from your Xfinity original remote) and allows you to look at your guide, saved (including your recordings), on demand, search and apps from there, By pushing the “ch” with the return sign, allows you to flip back to the previous channel you were at or other application/device you were in. By pushing the star key when you on a channel it allows you to restart the program, looks at other episodes, record, look at other times and series info. When pushing it when your in the guide, it allows all these same functions. The only thing I cannot figure out is how to cancel out of the guide or xfinity button when in there so I end up just typing in a channel and pushing ok to exit those. Note: The Xfinity code worked for me but didn’t allow normal functionality like the home or Xfinity button on the device.

Connects with my Yamaha soundbar. Note: You will need to push the AMP button to set up your soundbar.

Connects to my Sony BluRay player. Note: The BluRay codes didn’t not work with connecting but this BluRay also plays DVD’s even though it doesn’t read as a “combo player”. So I tried connecting it with the a DVD code and it worked! Has all the functionality as the original remote including the eject function!

If you want to get a backlit remote for your Roku device, this is the remote to do that with. BUT only the Infrared NOT the RFID.

Like many, I was surprised that the Roku remote isn't backlit & more so, that they don't make any. Kind of weird in 2022 isn't it? So I looked around for a remote that would be. What I found is this.

If you have one of the sticks, you can't find a remote that will work. You need to go to an IR Roku device. One that is infrared. Just how it is. You'll probably get a great discount from Roku on them because you already own one. I wanted to have the better cable & better wifi device, so got an IR one cheap.

Setup was too easy. Batteries in (I used some rechargeable). I did program the Roku unit with it's remote in case something went wrong. Nothing did.

They suggest using code entry, & I used the first code in the book for the Roku device, & the first four digit code for my TV.

I set up the Roku as CBL, because I'll eventually cut the cord. I covered the cable box with a towel just in case.

That was it. All I need do is press TV, then power, then CBL & I can control the Roku device.

Voice. If you have a Roku stick, you know the voice only works on the Roku screen, so it isn't all that helpful. This remote doesn't have one. If you want that, get one which does have a microphone feature. If I find I can't live with out it, I'll put a review on that.

Right now. This is working fine. I still reach for the side to hit mute, but I'll get out of that, soon enough.

All of the Roku buttons work. The OK 4 arrow "D-Pad" works fine, the return & back button, the asterisk works as it should. GE programmed the code to work for everything.
I will say that the numbers are a waste for the Roku, because once you hit the #1, you go right to Netflix. I haven't played with the A,B,C, or D lettering as yet, but I think it depends if the Roku device itself uses special keys, some do.

Also a downfall is that that lighting doesn't stay on very long. So you need to "find" a key that none of your devices use in order to light it up. Sometimes volume is the easiest to find by feel & doesn't affect everything as much as the OK button does.

This is a great remote for our entertainment system requirements.

We have:
- Tuner/surround sound
- Television
- Blu-ray player
- DVD player
- Roku

This remote allows you to map another device to a device button you're not using. For example, we don't have Cable so our DVD player is mapped to the CBL button.

Perhaps the best feature is that your can set the volume button to only work on a primary device. For example, the volume button on the remote only changes the surround/tuner volume unless the TV button was just pressed.

This one is our second one because the dog liked the taste of the last one.

We replaced the Roku with a Fire Stick so we can't control it with this remote, but this remote still does it all for us.

For my LED Samsung TV, this remote doesn't have any button that changes inputs. Not even the "input" button works! Instead, it would do some weird function of "saving channel"... I have no idea what that does, but none of the buttons on my Universal Remote worked on my Samsung to change the input / source.

For example, when you have multiple HDMI's attached and you wanna change from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, this remote couldn't do that basic function for my Samsung TV even though it's a new TV!

Also, I have a Vizio Soundbar (which I recommend getting in another review) but this remote doesn't have a "bluetooth" button like the soundbar does.

*Sigh*. And this is after spending 30 minutes trying to get the codes right!

I'm sure it's good for simple purposes, but not for modern purposes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Use the code lists on the Web site!

Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on February 19, 2019

Color: GoldStyle: 4 Device StandardPattern Name: ControlVerified Purchase

This is a very good replacement remote or adjunct to one on which some keys have stopped working. It covers all of the major functions of my TV (and also my cable box as I discovered through experimenting).

However, at first it seemed like it was able to perform only the very basic functions on my 6-year old Toshiba TV like powering on or changing channels, but that others (source selection, TV configuration menu) were either unavailable or were working wonkily. That's because I used the codes listed in the enclosed instructions. I then went to the manufacturer's Web site (byjasco.com) and found there a whole different set of codes corresponding to the label inside the battery compartment. The first one I tried worked perfectly and I can now use the remote fully for my TV. I do not know if it works for Apple TV or networking capabilities since I do not find those things relevant for my needs and it would be picayune for me to complain about that.

It would be a good idea for GE to include a more useful and up-to-date version of the codes list in the packaging or to simply direct people to go to the Web site as a first step. Programming the remote is simple and very fast.

I also appreciate its slim-line profile and the light weight. And if you buy one of the versions in another finish than the standard basic black, it becomes more readily identifiable as you need to locate it. I have yet to try it for my Blu-Ray players, but it does seem to be lacking one-key access to some of the functionalities like time elasped or remaining; I would probably need to go into menus to use them with this remote. But that is a minor point and I consider myself fully satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good value

Nice, clean design. Does everything it claims to do. Came with clear instructions and a long list of codes for programming my devices. It worked with my ancient DVD/VCR unit and my flat screen. I'm still trying to contact the brand Lepy for the code for my amplifier.
The remote is light and slightly smaller than I expected, which is pleasant. It's very thin, like my smart phone, but lighter and narrower.
I don't know what the ABCD buttons do, but everything I've wanted to do has been easy so far.
I will definitely modify my review if it breaks early on. So far, I'm loving it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Luz roja no enciende (o no existe)

Reviewed in Mexico 🇲🇽 on September 27, 2019
