Forest river rockwood geo pro travel trailer

If you want a go-anywhere, entry-level travel trailer, look no further than the Geo Pro camper. RVers who take the road less traveled more often than the highway will love these compact RVs. You can boondock one day and stay at a national park campground the next without skipping a beat.

Let’s explore what makes the Geo Pro camper stand out among its competitors and determine if it’s a worthwhile investment for you.

What Is a Geo Pro Camper?

A Geo Pro camper is a small travel trailer under 22’ long. While nimble and lightweight, you won’t lack the comforts of home in one of these RVs.

Notable exterior features include power tongue jacks, 190W solar panels, outdoor showers, and sizable heated holding tanks. Inside, you’ll be impressed by details large and small, such as roller shades, MaxxAir fans, recessed cooktops, and hidden hinge cabinet doors.

Who Makes Geo Pro Campers?

Forest River, which owns the Rockwood brand, manufactures Geo Pro campers. Rockwood has been around since the early 1970s but wasn’t acquired by Forest River until the mid-90s. It’s a staple brand in the camping world, known for producing fifth wheels, travel trailers, hybrid RVs, and pop-up campers.

Where Are Geo Pro Campers Made?

Like many other RVs on the market, Indiana is the home of Rockwood’s manufacturing facility. They have a factory in Millersburg, where Geo Pro campers get assembled with care and pride by a team of industry professionals.

How Much Do Geo Pros Cost?

The price of Rockwood Geo Pro trailers is on par with similar RVs on the market. They start at around $25,000 for the smallest floorplan, the G15TB.

Other larger campers in the Geo Pro lineup, like the G20FBS, run as high as $39,000 for a brand new unit. While not the cheapest travel trailers, the price reflects the quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and range of features each Geo Pro offers.

What Is the Difference Between E-Pro and Geo Pro Trailers?

Forest River also makes E-Pro trailers under their Flagstaff brand. Flagstaff and Rockwood offer identical floorplans but with distinct trims. So, if you set an E-Pro and a Geo Pro camper side by side, essentially, you’ll see the same trailer with different labels. You’ll also notice slight interior design variations, such as the color and style of the valences and dinette cushions.

However, the cargo area doesn’t take away from this camper’s offerings. In addition to 6’ 11’ of cargo length, you’ll also get a full-size bed, dry bath, flip-up sofa, and well-equipped kitchen. The kitchen includes a deep sink, covered recessed cooktop, 12V refrigerator, and a microwave.

The G19FBTH has an optional solar power package that features a 400Ah lithium-ion battery and three 190W solar panels.

The Geo Pro camper lineup also includes eight travel trailer floorplans. The G15TB is the smallest unit at only 16’ 4” long, and the G20FBS is the largest at 21’ 8” long. The heaviest Geo Pro camper is the G20BHS. It weighs 3,547 lbs dry and features a bunkhouse and slide-out dinette.

All Geo Pro floorplans have a dry bath, except for the G15TB with a wet bath. Bed sizes range from full to king, and two units offer bunks. Additionally, each camper has a kitchen with a 12V fridge, microwave, and recessed stove.

Despite their compact size, Geo Pro campers provide plenty of storage options, including overhead cabinets and shelves on the interior and multiple storage bays on the exterior.

What Are the Benefits of a Geo Pro Camper?

Made with an aluminum frame and Azdel panels, these campers are lightweight yet durable. The interiors have light-colored cabinetry and sleek features, giving the Geo Pro an open feel. Even though it’s a small RV, it doesn’t appear cheap or cramped.

An SUV or mid-sized truck can easily tow one of these travel trailers, making them an excellent entry-level option for new RVers. They’re also great to take off-road. Each unit includes a torsion axle with Rubber-Ryde suspension, 15” Mud Rover radial tires, and a lift kit.

What Are the Disadvantages of a Geo Pro Camper?

Conversely, the compact size of the Geo Pro means it’s not suitable for every RVer. A family of four or more people may feel crowded inside one of these. And full-time travelers might not find the amount of living space and storage ideal for their everyday needs.

Additionally, if you often boondock for more than one night at a time, the standard solar option would likely not provide enough power. You’d need to upgrade to the optional power package or design an off-grid solar system, which could be costly.

Are Geo Pro Campers Worth It?

Most weekend warriors and solo travelers will find Geo Pro campers more than adequate, from the durable construction to the wealth of amenities. These hitch-up-and-go trailers also come at a modest price point, making them a worthwhile investment for the modern explorer.

If you’re not sure, talk to a Geo Pro owner and get their perspective. While no RV is perfect, we bet you’ll find plenty of people who’ve had positive experiences with this quality camper.
