Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive We at MLive love showing you unusual food creations in Michigan. Take a look at this donut ice cream cone now available at a Metro Detroit donut shop. What does it taste like? Is it any good? What's it made of? Read on. Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive You can get this ice cream donut cone at Donut Bar + Coffee located at 29039 Southfield Rd. in Southfield. Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive The shop also serves a different variety of donuts daily along with its signature donuts available every day. Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive Ok, back to the donut ice cream cone. Owner Serena says she launched this last year and just brought it back for 2018. Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive "Our donut cones are filled with chocolate ganache and coated in cinnamon sugar. Toppings are also available." Serena says you can also get a donut ice cream sandwich. Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive We tried it and we thought the cone itself was delicious. It was soft and fresh. You could tell it had been recently baked. It kind of tasted like a cider mill cinnamon donut. Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive The combination donut/ice cream actually didn't work too well for us. The tastes didn't really compliment each other well like they do when you have, for instance, a cookie ice cream sandwich. For some reason that works great, while this just didn't. Your opinion may differ and we encourage you to try this as it's definitely something you don't see everyday. Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive As for the donuts... they are delicious and there's plenty of variety with some unusual flavors. Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive What's great is, because there are different flavors made each day, you never know what you'll find when you walk in. Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive "We use the highest quality and freshest ingredients in all of our handcrafted donuts, homemade fillings, glazes and toppings," said owner Serena. "Our artisan donuts are made from scratch in house everyday. We also now offer a Vegan donut everyday." Photo by Edward Pevos of MLive There are also plenty of beverages to choose from.
