Tradition Starts Here. Do Right. #BeTheWhy. These are the beliefs upon which Catawba Ridge was built, and they are the foundations upon which we will continue to build the culture of this great school.  My name is Darren Wilson and it is my honor and privilege to serve as principal of Catawba Ridge. I have spent my entire career serving the community of Fort Mill in our amazing school district as a teacher, coach, and administrator. My wife Jennifer serves as an assistant principal at Fort Mill Middle School, and our four children have all had the privilege of attending school in our outstanding district.

I am so blessed to work with an amazing staff at Catawba Ridge. As the leader of our school, I will aim to do my best each and every day, to do what’s best for our students, and to support the ideals of Be The WHY, our collective vision where student development is the center of our mission, because we are #TheRidge!

Communication is a key component to help us realize our vision and mission and I will keep our school community informed through weekly newsletters and social media (@CatawbaRidge, @CatawbaRidgeNews and @CRGuidanceDept). Additionally, please feel free to contact me directly at . I look forward to serving the parents and students of our great community.

Following a year where changes not only were forced to be made for students to graduate but ended up being a success, Katy ISD is moving to make outdoor graduations the norm.

For at least the next three years, Katy ISD has moved to make graduation ceremonies an outdoor affair.

Graduations had typically been held indoors at Leonard E. Merrell Center, but the district moved the events to Legacy Stadium because indoor events were not allowed at the time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a news release, Superintendent Ken Gregorski said the district heard from its families that they loved the change to outdoors.

According to the district, the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023 will have their graduation ceremonies at Legacy Stadium. The ceremonies will be daily affairs at 8 p.m.

For the Class of 2021, Taylor High School will kick off the events with its ceremony on Thursday, May 20, 2021. From there, the schedule includes:

Mayde Creek on Friday, May 21, 2021.

Cinco Ranch High School on Saturday, May 21, 2021.

Morton Ranch High School on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Seven Lakes High School on Monday, May 24, 2021.

Tompkins High School on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.

Paetow High School on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

Katy High School on Thursday, May 27, 2021.

The long-range forecast has 2022 graduation ceremonies beginning on May 19, 2022. Class of 2023 ceremonies will begin on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.

While Gregorski presented the Merrell Center as a rainout alternative venue, Board Member Dawn Champagne suggested considering keeping the rainout strategy the district had in the spring of holding the morning at Legacy Stadium, in case it was needed, so that families coming would not have to be limited at the Merrell Center.

If any ceremony is rained out, it will be rescheduled for 8 a.m. the following day.

Benefits of changing the venue permanently, Gregorski said, were that as many family members and friends of graduates as wanted could come and more parking at Legacy.
