I’ve always been a sucker for a good drugstore dupe. Similar product for less money? Yes, please. That said, not all dupes are created equal. Some “dupes” really just have similar packaging and others completely miss the mark. But every now and then, there’s a diamond in the rough and the drugstore dupe actually outperforms the high-end product. Better product for less? Sign me up!
Now let’s get into the dupes…
Corrector
The first drugstore dupe is for Becca’s Under Eye Brightening Corrector. This product claims to brighten those pesky under eye circles with ultra-fine, light-reflecting illuminators. As a new mom and someone that was genetically gifted darker under eyes, I’m here for anything that brightens. My darkness leans blue-toned so I always gravitate toward peachy tones to cancel it out…basically, this product was calling my name.
….until I found one of the best drugstore dupes: Pixi by Petra Correction Concentrate. It’s a bit less creamy in consistency so I wasn’t sure how it would perform but after testing for a few days, I couldn’t tell a difference at all once applied. If anything, I noticed less mascara transfer underneath my eyes because of the less creamy consistency. For only $12, it accomplishes the same thing and contains vitamins A, C & E and rose hip extract to actually treat the undereye circles in addition to concealing them.
Concealer
Moving onto a cult favorite product that took the makeup world by storm: Tarte Shape Tape. I can’t remember the last time a product was so widely loved and raved about unanimously. Unpopular opinion: I don’t personally love using Shape Tape under my eyes but it is a good blemish concealer because it’s so full coverage. That said, I know how many people love it so of course, I had to try and find a good drugstore dupe.
And did I ever! This Covergirl TruBlend Undercover Concealer not only has very similar packaging with the oversized doe foot applicator but provides the same full coverage as Shape Tape. It actually blends out easier and is a bit less drying.
Powder
I’m a big fan of several Charlotte Tilbury products but her Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder has to be one of my favorites. I have larger pores and need something that can smooth everything out without looking cakey or drying. This product does the trick but the $45 price tag is hard for me to justify when I have so many diapers to buy :).
I was really excited when I found a drugstore alternative that made my pores look even more airbrushed and still left my makeup looking natural and skin-like. The No7 Lift and Illuminate Triple Action Finishing Powder is a must-have for every makeup bag.
Brows
Anastasia has quite the reputation for her brow products, and rightly so. Her Dipbrow Pomade is super long-wearing and deserves all the hype it gets. But Elf Cosmetics’ Lock On Liner and Brow Gel is an incredible one of the best drugstore dupes. It accomplishes the same thing but goes on more naturally. It’s really easy to get a bit heavy handed with the Anastasia Dipbrow so I find the Elf dupe a lot more user friendly.
What’s your are your favorite drugstore dupes?
