(12) by JJ on SeniorAdvice.com 09/03/2021 Avoid Bridgeway at Bridgewater at all costs. They only seem to be interested in turnover (get them in and get them out), not results. After my father’s hip surgery, he was discharged with less than two weeks of rehab, and they claimed he was ambulatory and could walk 75 feet on his own. However, the day he was discharged, he could not even walk to the car (he needed a wheelchair), he could not get in the car himself, and he needed 24/7 skilled in-home nursing care at our expense (he could not even go to the bathroom by himself). They even were sly in discharging him on the weekend, when nobody (no rehab technicians, no doctors, and no social workers) were working. We felt like they just got their money and kicked him out the door. They walked out of the facility almost all at once, including the Director of Nursing and the Social Worker, and even some of the cleaning crew. Only a few of the old aids and nurses remain. There is not even enough staff to care for the residents. My mother was overmedicated and chemically restrained so they did not have to bother with her. She slept 24/7 for a whole week until I found her nearly dead, dehydrated, with a severe urinary tract infection and her medicines powderized and mushy on her lips. At the hospital, they weaned her off all the medicines the home used to keep her asleep (5 different medications) and mentioned that she had been neglected.
