I've been a member for more than 20 years, and went through the merger with my original credit union when it became Blue Federal. I was nervous (as with any change, especially in banking), but have been pleasantly surprised, time and again, and the friendliness, professionalism, courtesy, quick responses, and treatment like a human being rather than a number. I highly recommend Blue if you are in an area that they service, for loans, checking/savings, HSA account or any other banking needs!

Company would rather make a quick buck than support their customers. Terrible financial institution. They will charge you every penny that can for anything thy can. Don't bank here!!!!

Considered opening a Bump Up account, but between poor reviews and their incompetent writing of information - poor grammar, incorrect and missing verbiage- why would I ever do business with them? If Blue wants to be a professional banking service, they should at least make the effort to present as one.

I called to inquire about the rates/info for HELOCs and Business LOC. I just had a few questions, and after my second question Roberta said "This information is on the website. Did you want to apply? We have other members to take calls from." ?? How can I apply if I'm not given information? I was just asking for information. Not the kind of customer service you're looking for.

Update: Went into the bank and spoke with a nice gentleman. He was patient and answered all my questions. He was friendly and helpful. Moved my review from 1 to 3 stars! Thank you, sir.

Blue Federal Credit Union has always treated me well, and communications with them have always been smooth. I trust them to the utmost degree and am also proud to be a part of an institution that gives back to the community. No complaints here!

I'm surprised to see low reviews on here for Blue. My experience with them has been stellar. If you get to know the staff and know what your needs are, they serve you at the highest level--at least that has been my experience. To be fair, calling in on the 800 number has been less than impressive, which is why I have a couple of internal contacts I can reach direct for when I need help. They have come through on multiple occasions for my wife and I for multiple banking needs--refinance, auto and home loans, all at amazing rates you won't get through the big banks. I was with Community Financial many years before Blue took over and although at the time I was skeptical, I'm very happy with Blue today.

Worst experience I've ever had with a banking institution in my life and I was only with them for 1 year!! Started with them when they were community financial and 2 months later they switched to Blue and it was the worst thing they could've done. They say they're all about their members and helping them but they're not. Everything that's ever happened with them I've had to fight the whole way!
From them not helping me get a car loan and having to go to a different credit union to get it, to them losing a $6000 check that it took 4 days to find, to getting my information stolen and having to fight to get my $500 back. I am finally done with this terrible institution and taking my business to a better credit union. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM BLUE AS YOU CAN!!! There will only be disappointment to follow if you join with them.

I'm going to echo the sentiment already expressed by many people before me. Ever since the merger, this bank has gone completely down hill. I've been a member of Warren Federal since I was 13 and my mom had to co-sign for me to even open an account. I loved the customer service I got, anytime I had an issue they were there. They caught any attempt at fraud and always protected my money as well as that of many of my family members. And then the merger happened.

So let me tell you about Blue Federal.
My mom had issues with her motorcylce/car loan because of the bank's mistake and I have had headache after headache.

They shut my card off for suspected fraudulent activity but never contacted me. Not once did I hear from them. I had to call them to find out why my card was declining.

When it was time for the cards with chips to be sent out, my mom received one for her account but I still hadn't seen mine. So a phone call later, turns out that a card was never ordered for my account. They apologize, the card is being ordered and will be in my mailbox in seven-ten business days. A couple of weeks later I still don't have my card.
Another phone call and another "Oh well that card was never ordered, I'm so sorry. Let me correct that mistake". We went through this process four times. FOUR TIMES we called and had almost the exact same conversation with four different people. and still no card.

Then we get a notice that all cards that do not have a chip will be shut off by Friday of last week. So I call again, and ask to speak to a manager. They explain that my options are to go to a branch and have them print me a card (difficult when a snow storm is hitting, schools are closed, I'm at work, and oh yes, I live over an hour and a half away from the closest branch), or they can expedite the card to me and it'll be here in 2-3 business days.

The catch? I have to get a notarized letter confirming the address that I want the expedited card sent to... I jump through that hoop and assume that my card is coming. Well Fedex attempts to deliver it but I'm at work. I come home to find a notice that says I MUST be PRESENT to accept delivery. Not just a signature. I must physically be present for the card to be delivered.

So I call again. the sixth? seventh? call. I ask to speak to a supervisor. He attempts to tell me that I should have known that is what expediting means. No, I'm sorry but I work in a finance department. We "expedite" things and never once does it mean that someone must be present for delivery. That's NOT the norm. Don't try to spout BS to get out of yet another mistake.

So then the supervisor of the supervisor says that another card is being sent to me and in the meantime, the card that I currently have has been fixed and is now working and will continue to work until I get the card with the chip and activate it myself.

Great. It's a solution I can live with. I have access to my money without having to carry about hundreds of dollars of cash and my electronic bills will be able to go on as set up.
Until I stop and try to get gas only to realize that my card is still being declined!

Yet again, the card is not fixed!

As soon as I get home tonight I'm finding a different bank to move my money too. Disappointed and disgusted by the lack of professionalism and the lack of organization. This is not how a business is run.
