Since 1965. One of the largest Veterans Day Parades west of the Mississippi. The mile-long Veterans Parade proceeds west on Main Street from E Street SE to A Street NW in Auburn and will include a fly-over, marching bands, honor guards, military marching units and vehicles, veterans units, drill teams, community and scouting groups, as well as floats, antique cars and more. The day kicks off with a breakfast, sponsored by the American Legion, which is followed by a Remembrance Ceremony. The Auburn Noon Lions Luncheon and an open house at the VFW follow the parade. The day is complete after the state's largest Marching Band and Field Competition awards its winners at Auburn High School Stadium.

Auburn High School hosts the 25th annual Auburn Veterans Day Marching Band Competition from 1-10 p.m. Saturday at Auburn Memorial Stadium, 801 Fourth St. NE.

The showcase – sponsored by the Auburn High School Band and Choir Parents – features more than 30 high school marching bands from Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Bands will compete in the parade and field show competition. The event features performances in marching band music, precision (marching) and drill (formation).

The event is the Pacific Northwest’s largest and longest running marching band competition, according to Sue Hoffman, Auburn High School Alumni Band parent rep and Veterans Day chair.

In addition, 27 high school marching bands are scheduled to appear in the 46th Veterans Day Parade beginning at 11 a.m. along Main Street, which constitutes preliminary marching competition.

Auburn Mayor Pete Lewis and his wife, Kathy, Superintendent of the Auburn School District Kip Herren, and Auburn Senior High School Assistant Principal Stacy Jordison will present the awards following a full-band retreat at 9:30 p.m.

Ticket prices for all-day admission are: adults $14; students (6-18) $10; senior citizens (62 and older) $10; and children under 5 are free.

Proceeds from the marching band competition will benefit band and choir programs at Auburn High School.

Gates open at noon with the first performance starting at 1 p.m. on Troy Field.

Two full-service concession stands will be open during the competition. Handicap parking and seating are available in Auburn Memorial Stadium’s fully covered grandstand bleachers.

Auburn High School’s 26th annual Veterans Day Marching Band Competition unfolds Nov. 10 at Auburn Memorial Stadium’s Troy Field, 800 4th St. NE.

The Auburn High School Band and Choir Parents host the all-day event, from 1 to 10 p.m., featuring some of the best high school marching band music, precision marching and drill formation performances.

More than 30 of the finest high school marching bands from Washington, Oregon and Idaho will compete in this year’s parade and field show competition.

Among those are bands expected to compete are schools from as far away as Clarkston, Spokane, Kennewick, Wenatchee, Yakima, Bellingham, Ferndale, the Kitsap Peninsula, Everett, Marysville, Sultan, Lacey, Montesano, and Portland and Hermiston, Ore.

Ticket prices for all-day admission are: $15 adults; $10 students (ages 6-18); $10 seniors (62 and older); $10 military with active ID; $15 college students.

Proceeds benefit the Auburn High School Band and Choir programs.

Handicap parking and seating are available in the stadium’s fully covered grandstand bleachers.

Auburn, Washington is typically designated by the Veterans Day National Committee and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a Regional Site for the celebration of Veterans Day. Through our parade, we focus recognition on congressionally-recognized Veteran Service Organizations and their auxiliaries, the military and military reserve, National Guard and ROTC. The goals and purposes of Auburn's Veterans Parade & Observance are to give honor to our country's veterans and to their military missions of defending freedom around the world.

We are currently planning for the 57th annual Veterans Parade to be held in Auburn on Saturday, November 5, starting at 11:00 AM. The parade typically boasts over 200 units and nearly 6,000 parade participants, including 25+ marching bands, military vehicles, veterans' units, honor guards and more. The flame is lit and guarded through the night at the memorial at Veterans Memorial Park. Wreath placement, rifle salute, prayers and taps encompass this ceremony held prior to the parade.

Reserve (PDF) your spot early for this year's Veterans Luncheon, held after the conclusion of the parade. Host location is just two blocks from the Dignitary Stand. The lunch program honors our Veterans, with special recognition given to our Dignitaries in attendance. The Governor's Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee's Outstanding Service to Veterans Award Recipients will be honored at the lunch, along with other special presentations. The luncheon is co-sponsored by the Auburn Noon Lions and the City of Auburn. 

 "Our Heroes | Our Parade" Banner Tribute Program

This program was created to recognize and pay tribute to the brave men and women in Auburn who are serving, have served, or have given their life to our country in the United States Armed Forces. It also provides an opportunity for individuals, businesses and Veteran Service Organizations to support those who served by sponsoring a banner in downtown Auburn. The City is now accepting applications for the 2022 season. Application deadline is Friday, August 19, 2022. Please complete and return the application (PDF) with applicable banner fee and supporting documents.
