If the 2016 Honda Pilot is not starting keyless then there are two reasons. The first is that the battery in the key fob is dead and needs to be replaced. The other is that the fuse by the steering wheel has burned out. To get to the fuse box look to the left of the steering wheel look for a small seam or crack along the dash. Using a screwdriver or prybar You will want to pop this open. On the inside, You will find a bunch of fuses. On the back of the panel that You pulled open, You will see a diagram that will show You what each of the fuses is for. If this is not on the back of the panel then You can also find it in the owner's annual for the vehicle. Once You have figured out which fuse You need simply pull it out. The two sections that stick up should be connected by a thin strip of metal. If this has been broken then the fuse is no good and will need to be replaced. If this strip is there then the fuse is fine and can be popped back in. New fuses will cost You about 10 dollars, so they are pretty cheap.
I have a HondaPilot 2016 and I have the same problem why is Honda not doing a recall?
Replaced batteries in both key fobs today. Batteries were brand new and tested fine with A voltimeter. Nothing happens when I push buttons on them or go near my car. Please help.
I have a 2016 Pilot and just got the code. My service rep says HE thinks it is caused by some animal chewing my wires.Absolutely ridiculous! Not true so this has to be a design issue with the Pilot. I plan to take this to the Honda Corp. My Pilot is a 2016.

The key fob can be unpaired with the car, and more commonly the battery in the key fob will die and it will not work.

This problem could be key pairing, week remote battery or may due to faulty push start button

The issue is the push button itself. I bought a new one and replace it and the issue went away

I have a 2017 Honda Pilot and recently my keyless start system hasn’t been working properly. I tried replacing the batteries and reprogramming the remote but it’s still acting up—why is my keyless start system not working?
Answer provided by
This is actually a really common question, and there’s a good reason for that—Honda Pilot’s are incredibly prone to keyless start system failure, especially in the 2016 and 2017 models.
In most cases, the result of this failure is either a dead battery—which you’ve already ruled out—or a malfunctioning “Engine Start/Stop” switch.
Honda has actually received so many complaints about this issue that they released a service bulletin addressing it and even extended the 2016-17 models’ keyless start system’s warranty to 9 years after the purchase date or 125,000 miles, whichever comes first.
To have the problem corrected, you can either claim the warranty and have it fixed free of charge or, if your vehicle isn’t covered under warranty, have a mechanic replace the “Engine Start/Stop” switch for you.
Your car’s warranty helps cover your vehicle in certain situations, but not to the extent that a good car insurance policy does.
