2015 honda civic ex cabin air filter

This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the ninth generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and maybe also the 2016) Honda Civic in cleaning or changing the A/C system's cabin air filter element in the HVAC blower motor housing.

Owners of other Honda or Acura vehicles such as the Accord, Crosstour, CR-V, CR-Z, Fit, Insight, Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, ILX, TSX, TLX, TL, RLX, RDX and MDX may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

A few compatible replacement cabin air filters with their part numbers are as follows: Fram CF10134, TYC 800003P, ATP HA-5, Denso 453-2026, Premium Guard PC5519, Purolator C35519, PT Auto CF016P, Pentius PHB5519, Beck Arnley 042-2023, OEM CAF16P, Mahle LA 216 and Genuine OEM Honda 80292-T0G-A01.

No tools are needed to change the cabin filter.

A wet/dry shop vacuum may be useful for cleaning the existing element in order to re-use it.

The first few steps are to sit in the front passenger seat, open the glove box and empty out the contents.

Firmly push in the two side walls of the glove box towards each other until the rubber stops can be removed from behind the dashboard.

Gently lower the glove box down to the floor mat.

Once the glove box is out of the way, you'll be able to see the black plastic HVAC blower motor housing and the rectangular cabin air filter access panel.

Slide the old filter straight out of the slot.

Inspect both sides of the old filter.

If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum.

If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with dirt, dust, insects, leaves, hair, twigs and pollen, it should be replaced with a new element.

I'd recommend buying the Fram CF10134cabin air filter since it has the best reviews on Amazon. It also has baking soda and carbon embedded in the filter to help reduce musty or moldy odors from developing.
