Jun 25, 2019 It sounds like my front driver wheel bearing is going out. Has anyone changed this? Is there a how to or any tips to do myself? Thank you Joined Aug 24, 2018 · 38 Posts
I’ve replaced both front bearings on my Jeep. Pretty straight forward and easy job in my opinion. Just be aware you will have to remove caliper brackets and the bolts that hold those on are non reusable so you will have to pick up a couple of those. Other than that make sure you have the correct sockets before starting. I don’t know all what you’d
need off the top of my head but they are e-torx sockets Joined

Probably not
the ideal way to do it but it worked lol

When trying to order a new wheel hub at autozone there is 2. 1 for offroad suspension or 1 for no offroad suspension. I have a trailhawk which one do I get?

Front caliper bracket bolts require an E20 socket (e-Torx aka external Torx) like this one : ... but apparently a 16mm socket will do in lieu of an E20. Not sure if 6pt or 12pt on that 16mm though.

@ and @ , what were your symptoms of bad wheel bearings? Let me tell you about mine :wink:
I had a low frequency humm, better heard at roughly 30-40 mph. At higher speeds wind noise would overpower it. Mine went after I had a lower ball joint replaced, apparently it can happen after the hub is removed/re-installed. That was my situation anyway...

Trying to change the wheel bearing in my 2015. just ran into 4 of those e-torx bolts holding my bearing on. Frustrating when you think you have what you need and they use oddball crap like this.
