A replacement coin cell (A.K.A. "button" or "watch") key fob battery is part number CR1620. It is available from various manufacturers such as Panasonic, Duracell, Energizer, Maxell, Sony, and Renata.

The only tool needed to change the key fob battery is a small flathead screwdriver.

The first step is to press the round silver button and eject the flip out metal ignition key.

Then turn the key fob over so that the empty slot where the ignition key used to reside is facing up towards you.

Insert the blade of the small flathead screwdriver in to the slot and push the small button.

While holding the release button down, pull the ignition key away from the rest of the fob to separate the two pieces.

Push the metal ignition key piece back in to the fob until it clicks in to place.

Fold the metal ignition key back down in to the fob and double check that the parts are secure.

Stand near your Mazda3 and press the "Lock" or "Unlock" buttons to test the new key fob battery. If the battery is working properly, the parking lights should flash.

When the new battery installed, check remote key fob functionality by pressing buttons. If all functions works, assemble your fob’s case in reverse order.

The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Accurately try to put the pieces in place by hands from top to bottom. If your key fob body firmly closed, we done. If not, repeat the last step.
